The staff was amazingly kind and the breakfast was the best we have had in our 2 weeks in Croatia. The location is fantastic and I would highly recommend the restaurant as well.

Beautiful apartment, close to everything in old city. Breakfast was excellent. Ivan was the best, giving us great recommendations for eating and places to see! Would recommend the stay and the restaurant!

I can say enough about our stay. Luca and Mario made us feel right at home. From helping us with our luggage, to making wonderful recommendations for our visit. The morning breakfast were 5-syae along with a spectacular evening menu and wine list. Also, the location just can't be beat...you're in the very heart of Spilt with everything within waling distance. We plan to return and will definitely look forward to another stay!

We stayed for 3 nights.Luka and Mario are wonderful hosts. Luka met us at the parking lot and walked with us to the hotel. He explained us the history and gave us tips on restaurants in the area. They go long ways to make you feel comfortable, the breakfast is excellent and the hotel is walking distance to all main attractions. I highly recommend this hotel!

Best Stay in Split!

Overall stay was just amazing, location one of the best in Split. Best was the service from Makarun team especially from Luka and Mario, they were just more than amazing hosts. Breakfast was great with everyday. Room was super clean and we felt like fully attended all the time!

Even before arriving and after leaving, both Mario and Luka went above and beyond to make our stay/travel comfortable and enjoyable. The location is perfect, the room is clean, the amenities are nice, and the breakfast was great. We also had our dinner at Makarun restaurant (located at the same property) which was just wonderful. Thank you, Mario and Luka, for all your kindness and help while we were there.

Makarun Heritage room was very comfortable for our family (2 adults and 2 kids) perfectly situated in the old town of Split. Everything is walking distance. Mario and Luka, our hosts were fantastic and did the extra mile to show us where to park a few minutes away from the accommodation, help us with luggages, recommendations and tips. Dinner and breakfast at Makarun were really nice too!

This is an exceptional hotel! Situated right in the heart of old town Split, everything is accessible the moment you step foot outside the hotel. But what really sets it apart is the staff. Mario, Luka and the others go above and beyond to give you an exceptional experience at their hotel and in Split. And don’t miss their three course breakfast!! This is an absolute gem of a hotel that will make your experience in Split one to remember!

From the moment we made our reservation, the service was top notch! We were informed that someone would meet us and transport our luggage to the hotel and this happened seamlessly. We were greeted with fresh croissants and cappuccino and Luca sat with us for at least a half an hour recommending sites to see, restaurants, places to shop, etc. The rooms were extremely comfortable and every amenity imaginable was provided. The breakfast the next morning came in three courses and was delicious with all fresh ingredients-truly a treat!! This little hotel is a gem hidden in the middle of Diocletian's Palace and I look forward to going back. I did not dine here for dinner but the menu looks incredible! Best service at a hotel ever!

If there is a rating more than 5 star, we will give it for sure..we’ve been everywhere but didnt care to leave a review until now. Location was great, but same as the other places. But the service, just wow! We almost want to stay longer in Split because of the service. And we definitely wanted to come back because of them. I hesitated to book because of the lower number of review, but dont hesitate please..they treat you like your really special..please dont hesitate..BOOK IT NOW!

This is not a "hotel" with a lobby etc. it is a series of guest rooms which is attached to a restaurant. This is not an issue but if you want a true hotel you might be disappointed. However, in all my travels I have NEVER experienced this level of service. It was outstanding!! From being met at the boat and escorted to the property, to having a detailed review over drinks (on the house) of local attractions, having our laundry done for free, getting a breakfast to go on a day we had early plans and an overall level of attentiveness I have not experienced before. Ivan was particularly wonderful but the whole staff seemed genuinely dedicated to giving us a great experience. The room was also lovely and well appointed. The hot water, they warned, does run out rather fast due to the age of the facilities. That was the only reason I didn't give 5 stars across the board. Should I ever go back to Split I will stay here. In fact I would adjust my plans if need be to ensure I could stay here again. Really great experience!!! Thank you!!

Superb hosts

Fantastic stay in this place. Right from the beginning with answering all our preparation questions, meeting the very friendly Luka who escorted us to our room and then meeting Mario every morning for our superb breakfast we could not have felt more welcome. Attention to detail is what these boys do best, whether helping us plan a trip, remembering where we had gone, how we have our coffee, our eggs, nothing was too much trouble. Mario gave us a guided tour of Split and with obvious pride of being 5th generation was able to make it personal, very interesting and informative. The balanced delicious breakfast which went on and on all with local and home made products explained and served by Mario was a ‘ foodies heaven ‘ and coupled with the added bonus of gluten free options, and the near proximity of the property to the sea and the city, our visit was wonderful.
