Perfect, clean studio in the small mountain town of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, which dubs itself the Mineral City or Gem of the Mountains. We were never more than 20 minutes away from any of the sights, activities, or restaurants we wanted to visit.
It was so wonderful to come back after a day of activities to relax in the hot tub on those chilly mountain nights — and to stay in there as late as we wanted since unlike hotels, the hot tub at the love shack never closes!
The studio is nestled back on a quiet 50 acres which we ventured out to explore a bit, but it is very steep so we didn’t go too far. Still great to have the option to be active right at home during your stay.
Downtown Spruce Pine and the surrounding towns like Little Switzerland and Burnsville boast some amazing restaurants, including some authentic South American cuisine at the Tropical Grill and Thai/sushi at the new Bangkok Station. Many are closed on Sundays or Mondays but if you do a little research beforehand and plan which you’d like to visit you should be able to make it to all you want. We also visited both Emerald Village and Rio Doce gem mines and enjoyed both tremendously!
Do bring plenty of water as there is no built in dispenser in the fridge or Britta pitcher available. Also bring extra towels or beach towels for the hot tub as only two bath towels are provided.
Overall a wonderful experience for a long weekend in the mountains!
