Fabulous Getaway

We loved our stay at the Salty Pickle! The pickleball court is why we booked (which was AWESOME!) but we enjoyed the many other amenities as well. The management company does a great job of making you feel welcomed and taken care of and even provided a bag of essentials for the week which we really appreciated. We’ve stayed in many places on the island and this was one of our favorites. 10/10!

Reviewer Comments: Our annual fall family gathering at SGI was a memory maker as always and our home for the week, Salty Pickle, was amazing - everything we needed and it over met any expectations we may have had. The remodel/renovation was beautiful. Modern but homey. Well thought out and the use of space was unbelievable. I would highly recommend this property to a larger group and bonus, if you love Pickle Ball, the court was fun for all ages!!!!!

The kitchen has two FULL size refrigerators, two dishwashers and FOUR garbage cans. They thought of EVERYTHING. We had to leave after day 3 of our 7 day stay, due to Hurricane Helene. We will definitely consider this house again for next year.

The house was fully stocked with all of our needs, from all the pool/beach toys you could ever need, everything to create delicious meals, to all the fun with the ping pong table, pickle ball court and cornhole. The pool was a huge hit with the kids and the adults loved the screened in porch. You cannot go wrong with this house! Thanks for an amazing first time at St. George Island!

Great for a big group

They communicated well for the couple of questions we had. The only thing to note is there are tons of steps on the walkway out to the beach, we used the public access walkway just to the west of the house to get our wagon of beach gear to the beach. But everything else was so amazing it really was not a big deal. The house is beautiful and we would love to go back!

2024 Hurtgen Family Vacation (18 of us)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The immediate family of my wife and mine spent the second full week at the Salty Pickle. This compound is simply amazing, and we used every amenity. The extra money needed to heat the pool was well worth it. The kitchen is well-equipped, as about 16 each evening can attest (my wife and I ate out all nites except one). The "bunk house" was awesome in bedding seven adults and children. The folks at Gulf Coast Beach Vacation Rentals are very responsive in meeting any challenge. This is our third year in renting properties from this group and, hopefully, not our last. The only drawback was for our us grandparents in making the somewhat of a long walk out to the beach (with plenty of steps). Overall, the property is A+++ and the folks at GCVP earned an A+, as well. Here's to 2025, Lord willing!

Wonderful Experience

Reviewer Comments: We have rented beach property every year during the last week of the year since 2012 and have had some wonderful experiences, but our week at the Salty Pickle has exceeded them all. I cannot say enough good things about everyone involved from the agents to the owners. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to be helpful. This house is phenomenal. Everything we could have needed was provided. Two refrigerators, two dishwashers, and two ovens along with a spacious pantry made food prep and clean up for our large family so easy!! The porches were beautiful! Two fining room tables held our whole family comfortably. Beach chairs and beach toys were available, and the heated pool was perfect for the grands! We loved the hot tub, the pickleball court, and the cornhole game as well as the ping pong table. There was something to keep everyone happy and busy. On top of that the house was immaculately clean and complete with little gift bags.I cannot say enough about this vacation. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Awesome Beach house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to SGI for 10 years and this was our first trip with 10 of us staying together. The Salty Pickle did not disappoint! This home has EVERYTHING you could possibly need and then some! From 3 years old to 70 years old, we all loved it and had the best family vacation without being on top of each other. The boardwalk to the beach is a bit longer than I am used to, but it was very nice to walk over the dunes. The view was breathtaking from the top deck, the enclosed porch was so relaxing and the pool area was great for hanging out while playing all the games - ping pong, connect four, cornhole, pickleball. . . The pool and hottub were even cleaned during the week! Toys and Beach gear were a huge bonus for us also. The fenced in dog area is so convenient with easy access from all floors. We used the elevator to bring in all our suitcases and groceries, which saved alot of backache. We had a leak under the sink and someone was there within 20 minutes to fix it! I would highly recommend The Salty Pickle!!! 5 stars

One of our best picks yet!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There’s not enough room to describe how wonderful our trip was. It was a two week stay, and still was so hard to leave. The Salty Pickle is about halfway between the island entrance and the state park, but we were so busy with the hot tub, pool, ping pong, pickle ball - yes, the only pickle ball court on the island, and it was all ours! The elevator was perfect for those who couldn’t handle the steps, and of course the kitchen was amazing with anything you would need (but the food)- two refrigerators, two stoves, and two dishwashers, and an ice maker on the first floor. We rode bikes and even though we weren’t directly on the beach, we had the perfect view from the kitchen and the hot tub, to watch the sunset! Our only issue was that the pool was loosing water and had to be filled several times. We were extremely impressed with the generous ‘welcome bag’ from the management. Thanks for that and for being very helpful and polite with our calls and requests both before and after our arrival. GCVP is the one to call for The Salty Pickle on your next trip to SGI. Can’t wait to see you again next year!

A Wonderful House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Salty Pickle is absolutely wonderful!!! You can tell the owners care about the property and its upkeep. It has a great layout with main living/kitchen on the top floor, with all bedrooms and another living area on the middle floor. It is worth mentioning that with the kitchen and main living on the top floor, there are a lot of stairs to climb. It didn't bother our family, but is something to note. We really enjoyed the pickle ball court, as well as all the other amenities provided. The owner, and rental company, provide pretty much everything you can think of, besides food! Gulf Coast was great to work with and quick to address one issue we ran into. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. The outdoor living spaces are fantastic, with two of the levels having shaded lounge areas, which were a wonderful reprieve from the sun. We didn't bring any dogs with us, but appreciated that there weren't any lingering animal smells on any of the furniture. There is a gated dog run next to the house that would be quite useful if you plan on bringing your pup! The only critiques are that the bedrooms/bathrooms are on the small side (it didn't bother us much bc we basically just used them to sleep and shower, but of note if you're someone who hangs out in your room or plan to utilize a pack n play/bassinet for small children) and the walkway to the beach area is quite long and narrow (again, quite a few steps and difficult to carry larger items like a kayak to the beach). With that said, we all agreed we would NOT hesitate to rent the Salty Pickle again for our next visit to SGI!

We had a pretty big group including some friends of our kids and a dog but we had plenty of space and things to do. The bunkbed room was great for the boys and with the pickleball court, corn hole, pool and ping pong there was always something for people to do. Everything was nice and all the details and were thought of, which made the stay feel very easy. We'll definitely be back!

Vacation Dream Home!

We had 4 seniors, adult children and grandchildren and the house was perfect for all! We didn't have any problems, so didn't need to contact the management company, but I called a few times prior with questions, and they answered the phone on the lst ring and answered the questions promptly, being very familiar with the house. The house and outside areas, were sparkling clean upon arrival! We thank you for a great experience!

Perfect vacation rental!

Reviewer Comments: Many reviewers have already commented on how nice the home is, that is, solid furniture, comfortable beds, attractive decor, well equipped kitchen, a plethora of recreational equipment (all in great shape) and so on. I agree with all of that (overall it is exceptionally done) but what I appreciated as much is the layout. We spend time at the beach with family at least once a year. Generally there are 8-10 of us. We have rented several homes with 4 or 5 bedrooms that meet our “sleeping needs”. But what is different and special about the Salty Pickle is the layout. There are several places where everyone can get together in one big group or break up into smaller groups. For example, the teens don’t want to sit around at night with their parents and grandparents so having space where they can congregate separately is really nice. The decks are quite large with ample comfortable seating and there are three directly connected to the house and one downstairs in the recreational area. If you are coming with a crowd, just rent it. You won’t regret your choice. And our experience with Gulf Coast Properties was equally satisfying.
