I stayed at the Hampton Inn for a Penn State Football game. The staff was very accommodating and allowed me to check in early due to my early flight arrival. The room was fine, but the breakfast was excellent. Having coffee available in the foyer at other times was also handy. It is in a great location--walking distance to Beaver Stadium. The restaurant and club next door was a bonus.

Found the property to smell, mostly the rooms (musty, mold-type smell). The rooms are not renovated and definitely need it. The common area and bathrooms, as well as the gym, were renovated and did not have the same smell as the rooms. The continental breakfast was decent.

There was the stench of spilled beer in the lobby next to the elevator, but that didn't impact in my room so not the end of the world. The window in the room, did not have a blackout curtain however, and faced the parking lot, which had lights on overnight. This is a serious issue for sleeping, one of the main reasons for a hotel to exist.

Staff was friendly. Breakfast was very good! I did not expect omelets, real potatoes and better grade of sausage, cooked oatmeal and the usual waffles, bagels, etc. The room was a disappointment. The beds were not too comfortable unless you like firm mattresses. The surprise was no drawers to store clothing and the closet was pegs on a wall to hang your clothes covered by a drape to make you think there was actually a large window behind the curtain.

Great for a "just need a place to sleep" hotel. Bed is slightly soft. Walls are thin but neighbors quieted down before it got too late. Bathroom was very clean. Breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs were so so, nice hard boiled eggs milk choices, and good waffle maker (minis too).

It was a one night stay so it served its purpose. I would probably book a different hotel if I was passing through again but it was a cheap and efficient hotel. It was clean also. If you are looking for cheap and clean and state college its a good choice.
