As soon as I stepped into the cottage I felt wrapped in a lovely comforting blanket. The owner, Elizabeth, showed me around and left an amazing welcome pack of home made bread, marmalade and a Victoria sponge, along with milk, cheese, and oatcakes. Although next door, the owners are not at all intrusive but are there if you need anything.
I found the cottage very relaxing. It is situated on the main Campbelltown road but I wasn't aware of road noise at night. The rear of the cottage looks over farmland to Jura. You can see the Islay ferry passing from Kennacraig. Although the lounge area isn't huge the French windows make it feel very spacious.
For those of you with dogs, a word of caution. Small dogs are perfect as there is an enclosed garden, however the fence is not high and a big dog would be out and over into the farmers field. As the cottage is on the main road I found it too stressful to walk my over inquisitive lab from the cottage and had to venture further in the car for all his walks. If you dont like getting in the car for the dog walk this is not the place for you.
This is a lovely area to explore. I particularly enjoyed the gardens at Arduaine, Machrihanish beach, Skipness and Tarbert.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely cottage, with the note about large dogs.
