“Staff is friendly, hotel located in front of sea with nice view. The kettle was dirty which staff changed for me on my request; The shower wasn’t draining so after one person had shower, no one else can step in as it’s like a pool. Asked reception but no assistance provided other than “sorry”. Bathroom floor got very wet after the shower so suggesting leaking somewhere.”

“This facility was a very pleasant surprise. Big beautiful room, nice harbor room, clean and comfortable. Too bad we only stayed one night. First time guests might be surprised to find no staff on site when checking in. We passed by the entrance at first look because of its innocuous door and recessed signage. Once inside, the lobby and hall decor reflect a range of motifs. Very eclectic but well presented. Cannot address the breakfast quality and values because we had to leave early to catch a……

“Expedia booked me at the wrong Tarbert. I asked for the Tarbert on Isle of Harris. Apparently, this happens a lot. The hotel I did stay at in the Tarbert I was hoping for said it’s a common mistake. They’ve tried informing booking companies, to no avail. Though I contacted the Anchor about the booking mistake, I was charged full price for a room I was 250 miles from.”

“Expedia does not tell you they don’t answer phone calls from foreign numbers & they have no front desk/ staff on site so only way to communicate is thru Expedia. I couldn’t get continental breakfast because Expedia blocks emails & they couldn’t send me payment link. No food or beverage available on site or within walking distance. Food delivery was lame, cash only & no utensils. Decent shower, bed & wifi”

“The rooms seemed okay until we moved back the duvet and found stains and dog hairs the duvet itself was very badly stained we went and told the guy on the desk who didn’t care he took the duvet away to change it but came back with an even worse one”

“I had a sea view and the view was absolutely stunning. The room was good, bed really comfortable and clean, bathroom clean and seemed relatively new. Water pressure not the best but it's an old building. Looked like someone had spilled bleach on the carpet at the bathrrom door but was clean apart from that. Plenty drawers and wardrobe space. I ate in the restaurant one night and it was nice, good choice and tasty. Maybe a bit old fashioned but it fits with the hotel, which is an old character……

“The hotel is certainly a representative of a time past. We couldn’t get the shower to work and since we were two sisters traveling together we really missed that shower. The view from the front steps out to the lock was awesome. The ferry was literally across the road and since we needed to take an early departure the location was perfect.”
