The spa was very nice and clean, but the hotel itself could do with some updating. Had to run the shower for 15-20 minutes to get any hot water, the bathroom needed a good clean, some staff in dining room at breakfast and cleaning staff very nice, rest need to learn to smile more. Food by pool ok but chilli 🌶 very watery as though had been defrosted, not what I expected from a 3 star hotel

We had a lovely stay, myself and my husband with our daughter and her partner we all said we will be back again, i have asked for a quote to bring our family down for my 60th birthday in June 2027 for 23 of us as there is so much to do at the hotel for the adults and our grandchildren, we ate both night's and couldn't Fault the food the lift was broken down but the hotel did notify us before we arrived and did give me a room below due to my arthritis so thank you again! We have stayed at the Derwent a few years back so we knew what to expect when we booked the Carlton, the hotel is very clean and bed was comfortable but the rooms are dated but have what you need for your stay. Staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was good.

The property was clean and tidy. It was very quiet and the services provided were amazing. The pool is free for guests of the hotel and it was just relaxing and the games room was great entertainment I didn’t even need to leave the hotel!!

The resort is fantastic. Great facilities. The room was excellent with a fantastic sea view. Staff were generally helpful and food good. Not great service in the Carlton hotel restaurant. Kept being pestered to pay immediately and werent given the option to have two or three courses. Had to decide up front and pay accordingly and werent allowed to have option for third course. Food was good though and generous portions..

We came from the west midlands to torquay, 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 6. This hotel was perfect for us all. The kids always had something to do. We had 1 day of bad weather but we didnt care as there were alot to do in the hotel. My youngest (staying with me and my partner) went to the toby club and did somr clay making with matt who was lovely whilst my eldest went down to the bunker and went off with a few other children and the lady who ran the club. He loved it and we felt ok leaving him. The swimming was amazing, we went a few times, i used the sauna and steam room and loved it. Staff were lovely wherever we went. Around torquay is lovely too, we loved the crab catching which is a must to do. Overall we would definitely stay here again when we come back to Torquay.

We had a wonderful weekend as a family of four, staying in a one-bedroom apartment. Although we slept on a sofa bed in the lounge area, which wasn't very comfortable, perhaps investing in a new sofa would help. The kitchen was well-equipped with an oven and a large fridge-freezer. The leisure facilities were impressive, featuring several pools as well as a hot steam room and sauna. While we didn't dine at the restaurant, we enjoyed a couple of drinks there, although they were a bit pricey, prompting us to venture out for food and drinks on most days. We ordered from Deliveroo on the first evening, which was quite convenient, and we also had an amazing curry at a restaurant called Tariks, located on the road from Torquay to Paignton. Although the exterior didn't seem glamorous, the food quality was exceptional. While the hotel itself is somewhat dated, it served perfectly as a base for our stay. The staff were welcoming and friendly, always available to provide helpful information. We would definitely consider staying here again.

First good things, the staff are nice n helpful, location is good if you want to spend time near beach and enjoy nearby amenties, bingo, entertainment were nice but no food allowed there, only drinks! Though food at Aztec bar was nice. pool and spa facilities were good, on first day, the pool water was very cold, 2nd day was less cold. Enjoyed firey n cold spa treatment (extra charges). Parking is free only if book directly with TLH(i saw a big sign in their sister hotel), non tlh bookings are to pay £10 per day, which adds up eq if you staying 5 days, i.e extra £50! Re: room, Our given room looked really old, tiles broken, door handle broken, some horrible smell, so we requested to change our room, the reception staff was helpful and offered us different room, this was little bigger n fresh, but same old tired room, broken bathroom tiles, black brown dirt mould around toilet seat, dirty windows, bathroom needs demolition and rebuilt,when walking around room n hotel squeaking noisy woods. Hotel decor is really old except the reception area, which seems to be recently renovated n looks nice compared to the rest of the hotel.

Amazing for families

Amazing facilites. Plenty for the kids to do. Really clean with friendly staff. Only minor complaint i have is the wait for drinks at the main bar. Highly recommend for a family break
