Vane Lookout - an apartment that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Take a breath when you first experience the sweeping sea views from this gorgeous penthouse apartment. Inspired by the the views that stretch for miles, from Brixham's Berry Head to the rolling hills of Dartmoor. Every window is like a picture postcard, taking in the yachts and fishing boats in that glittering bay below.
This stunning penthouse is perched above Torquay harbourside in a grand Italianate villa, perfect for a luxury coastal getaway. When you step inside, you will feel instantly at home with the large windows making it difficult to tear yourself away from that view. A winding staircase leads up to the top of the tower, where the sumptuous master bedroom provides panoramic views out of its surrounding windows. Sip your morning tea like you are king of the castle and plan your adventures ahead. Friends or family have a beautiful guest bedroom with a separate shower room for privacy.
After a day exploring you can prepare supper in your private kitchen sampling all the local seafood on offer in the harbour town below. Wander to your private courtyard garden, whilst watching the setting sun and the glistening lights along the pretty harbour before heading inside to watch a movie together snuggled on that gorgeous Roche-Bobois sofa. The interiors have been curated by the owner who is an international interior designer.
There are so many things to see and do in and around Torquay, and the bustling harbourside is only a short walk from your apartment. From sandy beaches, bustling restaurants and waterside cafes for lingering coffees not forgetting the meandering South West Coast Path that explores this stunning coastline, or explore the pretty market towns nearby looking for antiques and local artwork, there is so much to fill your escape from normal everyday life.
Steeped in history The Tower was built for the first American Ambassador to England and incorporates Italian architectural ideas. During World War II The Home Guard used the tower as a lookout post for enemy aircraft. The Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw visited the Tower. He was the only person to have been awarded both a Nobel Prize for Literature (1925) and an Oscar (1938) for ‘Pygmalion'. The 1897 play ‘You Never Can Tell' was set in Torquay.
