Trier, founded in 16 B.C. as “Augusta Treverorum”, is often referred to as the “Rome of the North”. The city has nine World Heritage sites and they are all of Roman origin. One of them is the “Porta Nigra” or Black Gate (A.D. 170), the only one of the original four city gates still standing. The sandstone structure survived only because it later became a church. There’s not much to see inside today, but you can climb up into the complex and get some nice views of the city.
Trier is a good starting point for a trip through the Moselle valley. #History

Waldrach

「We really enjoyed the Landgasthof Simon Hotel and wish we had more time to spend there. Unfortunately we had trouble navigating the German highways and ended up arriving very late to the hotel. The room was very spacious, very clean, comfortable and had a great country feel to it. We had a very nice breakfast the following morning and were on the road again. It was a short stay for us and I really would have loved to venture around the town of Waldrach as it seemed like a very nice little town...
