Breath of fresh air
We wanted a place to recharge and escape from our hectic life. This place is off the beaten path and lovely. The stars at night are glorious. A short trek through beautiful country to either Santa Fe or Taos. Quiet, peaceful, comfy! The hooting owl and light snow made it picture perfect. Our hosts were helpful and accommodating. We will definitely stay there again next time we head that way.

The house was gorgeous including the furniture; a New Mexican palace! The location in Truchas was beautiful and the views of the mountains from the back porch were stunning! It was beautifully quiet and the air was clean and sweet. We would love to visit again!

Beyond Expectations
Lets start with the beautiful drive to the Casita. Gorgeous quaint rustic scenery. The Casita is situated with views from all directions. The checkin was so easy and the owners were very quick with all communication. The inside is so stunning and cozy it was really ideal for what i was looking for, decompress and enjoy.. I hope whoever reads stays longer then 2 days, because its just not enough. The owners have thought of everything and you'll really need nothing. There is also so much to see and do in all seasons. Thank you for sharing ypur stunning home with me..

Beautiful remote adobe house
The location is remote but beautiful. Truchas is a ways away from everything but if you’re looking for quiet and getting away this is a great rental. We were greeted by the host dog named Buddy and the host Ben showed up soon after we arrived. We needed an extension cord to run our Roku on the TV and Ben showed up in minutes delivering one. Loved staying here and I would definitely recommend it. Lots of room and it feels like home!!!

Relaxing getaway
This is our 3rd stay, and we will be back next year. The house is beautiful and we love sitting on the patio watching light play on the mountains. The hosts are wonderful—thanks for fresh eggs! It’s an easy and lovely drive to Chimayo or even Taos and nice to retreat back into the quiet of this property.

Lovely Cabin and Great Views!
Beautiful, well maintained cabin perfect for a few days vacation. We loved the porch where we sat and watched the sky in the evening. It is a bit out there though so come prepared with whatever you will need.

Great hideaway
This was my second stay at the Casita. If you love open space, mountain views and absolute quiet, you'll love this place. Very tasteful Southwestern decor inside and a large and fully functional kitchen. I go to write and hike, and the Truchas mountains, which you can see from the bedroom, are full of beautiful trails. I look forward to returning.

Very Special Place in North Central NM
My husband and I had a wonderful long weekend at your beautiful Casita. The location is perfect, easy drive to Santa Fe, Taos, Ojo Caliente and all that this beautiful area has to offer. Fantastic mornings and evenings on the secluded patio. Finishes and furnishings are top-notch! Great kitchen, nice bathroom, comfortable bed and living room furniture, all the modern amenities in a beautifully restored historic home which retains 100% of its charm. Hosts were extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurants, etc. This was the perfect get-away, we hope to visit again. Highly recommend this place!

Wonderful Getaway, Beautiful house
Beautiful house in a beautiful setting in an quiet and interesting village. Very comfortable and spacious. Perfect for a couple. Even fresh eggs & excellent coffee. Everything that you could possibly need was supplied. We just brought a few things for breakfast and for evening snacks. There is a very good restaurant in Chimayo - about 10 miles away. We had dinner there several times. The covered patio was a delightful place to relax and enjoy the many birds that came to visit the bird feeder and flowers. It was so relaxing to be away from big cities. The mountains are beautiful. Cool & comfortable. We also visited Santa Fe & Taos. Ben was very helpful with information before and during our stay. We would love to come back another time.

Hidden Gem, beautiful casita!
Tucked away in Truchas is a little piece of heaven. Beautifully restored adobe casita is full of charm, thoughtful details, and modern conveniences. Comfortable and a convenient base camp to Santa Fe, Taos and Los Alamos and all of North Central New Mexico. Loved every moment!

Beautiful, quite base camp!
We, two adults, had a wonderful time at this property. Nice, new, clean and very quite. Softest bed I think I have ever slept in! Truchas does not offer any amenities, so make sure to grab some supplies as you go through Santa Fe. Housewares are very complete, just need food and drinks. But, the locations is ideal for all your day adventures. We enjoyed starting with coffee on the back patio as the sun came up over the Truchas Mountains. The owners communicated very efficiently and we felt very welcome. We would definitely stay here again! PS - the photos online are accurate, but once you tour the house, they don’t do justice to the craftsmanship through out the house! We loved all the carved woodworking!

Ben was so easy to work with. Very prompt in all of his responses to me. The house is very comfortable, and so nicely renovated. It is in such a peaceful and beautiful location. I went there to rest and see Chimayo. It was perfect for both. I look forward to going back.

This renovated casita is first class. Truchas town is a relatively short drive from Santa Fe, so you can reach Taos or Santa Fe fairly easily. But when you return, you have killer views of the Truchas Mountains from the bedroom window, and many acres of open space from the back portal. Inside, attention to detail is key. The furniture is excellent Southwestern, the color buttery yellow, and everything has been updated. It is such a serene and very quiet location you sleep like a baby. It's more like being in a nice home than a rental. Highly recommended.

True Diamond in New Mexico!
When you look at the pictures of this place online, you will like it. It is WAY better in person! We chose to stay here because it was halfway between Taos and Santa Fe, pictures looked super cozy, and it was a great price. Expectations were far exceeded, and the drive to Taos and Santa Fe each day was a highlight with how gorgeous the views were! Ben and Annette were amazing hosts, providing us with fresh coffee and fresh eggs for our stay! Their communication was prompt and helpful. 10/10 would/will stay here again. As a side note, go to Chimayo and visit Ortega’s Weaving Shop. The casita is filled with them, they are crazy comfortable, and the shop is very cool! Thanks Ben and Annette!

Roomy rural respite
This roomy abode was wonderful haven right smack in middle of our day trips to Santa Fe, Los Alamos & Taos. Less than hour’s drive to each spot. After hiking & touristing, we enjoyed returning to this cozy, quiet & clean home. Great kitchen appliances if you want to cook. Hosts were very kind & eggs & coffee greatly appreciated. We definitely plan on returning here again !!

Quiet retreat
The house is better than the pictures on line. It is beautiful and spacious with a wonderful patio that we used in the mornings and when we returned in the evening. The location is remote but easy to get to Taos or Santa Fe and the drive both ways is beautiful. We found that at the end of the day we preferred to head back to the house and just hang out for the evening. It was hard to leave!

Very comfortable and beautiful place in northern New Mexico
The house is beautifully fixed up and furnished. There is ample space for a couple and a nice kitchen. The owner is very accomodating. Truchas is a good place to go to get away from it all. Magnificent mountains and local farm landscape. Interesting regional art and culture. Located just off the high road to Taos. Keep in mind that it is small and remote. Wifi and thus cell phone in the house but our usual cell service did not work, and Truchas has no store or restaurant. Chimayo and Española are down the road. We paired it with some time in Santa Fe so we got both the more commercial and the more remote sides of this region. Recommended highly.

Great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings
We loved everything about this property: very well appointed, clean, comfortable, lovely touches like beautifully colored walls and nice dishes. Best of all are the terrific views and pleasant outdoor areas. The owners are thoughtful and friendly without being intrusive. If you are looking for lots of action, this place is not for you —although it’s a beautiful drive to Taos and Chimayo is nearby. It’s also easy to get to Santa Fe. We loved the quiet and solitude after a busy day in Taos. In fact, we are looking forward to an extended visit next summer! Thank you Ben and Annette for a lovely few days.

Idyllic place
This property is absolute perfection if you are looking for a quiet mountain get-away. The photos do not do the house or the surroundings justice. The house is clean, well equipped, decorated so beautifully that it feels like home. The view from the patio is so lovely. Lovingly restored and Historic Adobe farmhouse
Lovingly restored to perfection. Large bedroom living area and kitchen. Perfect setting with patio for breakfast and dinner watching the fields change color with the sun. Owners were friendly helpful And went out of their way to share history of the area along with great recommendations for restaurants and hiking spots . Plus a bottle of wine coffee abs fresh eggs! We loved Truchas and surrounding area with the landscape hiking history and arts. Loved everything about our stay.

WOW….just perfect for that quiet gateway. All the privacy we could ask for. Just bring yourselves. Anything you may need is there. Books, CDs, great sound system for our music., wonderful rain shower and so much to enjoy. Location for us was perfect 45 minutes to Santa Fe. Scenic roads to Taos and the national forests right there. Loved the fresh eggs and the coffee. The perfect hosts. Thank you

Max Relaxation
We had a wonderful four days at the casita. It worked perfectly for day trips we had planned to Taos, Santa Fe and Brandimer National park. We also spent a day In Truchas. We had everything we needed to prepare the meals we had planned and the fresh eggs were everything we could ask for. Thank you Ben!

Beautiful and Amazing Getaway
This home is just perfect. Beautifully restored and decorated in traditional NM style. Gorgeous views. Lots of space and well stocked kitchen. Ben and Annette were very responsive to any questions and are just a delight. It was the perfect way to end 2020 and ring in the new year in this serene, somewhat off the grid, setting. We just loved it!

Perfection
We have stayed in rentals all over the world and this may be our favorite! Both the house itself and the location are extraordinary. The house has been renovated to a very high standard; it has all the charm and historical appeal of an authentic adobe home while also remaining supremely comfortable. The carved furniture and doors are exquisite; the kitchen and bathroom facilities are equally first-rate. As other guests have pointed out, it is more like a five-star hotel suite than an ordinary rental cottage, except that it has more space and privacy. In addition to all this, there are sublime views from the bedroom and walled garden. We spent our morning and evening hours admiring the mountains from the back table and watching the garden's aspen tree flutter in the breeze. An unforgettable stay; we certainly hope to return one day.
