Residence San Bernardo - Ap. "Monika" in the countryside, 6km from the center of Udine
The vacation rental is located in the far northeastern part of the municipality of Udine, surrounded by greenery—yet it is only 3 km from the Udine Nord highway exit and just 7 km from downtown Udine. The apartment is located in a former 14th-century monastery that was restored by the (South Tyrolean) family who owns it with great care and respect for the architectural history of Friuli. The building includes an enclosed property spanning over 2 hectares, 3,000 m² of which—comprising gardens and meadows—lies within the old crenellated wall. The vacation apartment is located on the 2nd floor of the building; on the grounds there is a pool with a sunbathing area, a shower, and outdoor dining areas.
The property is situated in a completely quiet location on the plain at the foot of the hills and serves as an ideal starting point for cyclists, joggers, and hikers, as it borders directly on the Parco del Torre with its walking and biking trails.
You can see the mountains on the border with Slovenia and the Colli Orientali del Friuli with their famous vineyards; guests interested in culture will appreciate the short distances to Cividale, Gorizia, and Trieste—home to Miramare Castle—or a day trip to Venice. In the immediate vicinity, you’ll find Michelin-starred restaurants (1.5 km away) as well as traditional trattorias and agriturismos, where regional dishes are served alongside excellent wines at an outstanding value.
The coast, with the towns of Grado and Lignano, is just a 45-minute drive from the property, as are the ski resorts of Zoncolan, Tarvisio, Monte Lussari, and Nassfeld in Carinthia, which can be reached in 45–60 minutes in winter via the highway—which is usually empty at that time of year. The border with Slovenia is about a 35-minute drive away; there, too, you’ll find beautiful and (still) uncrowded biking and hiking trails to explore.
Throughout the property surrounding the vacation rental, there are horses, geese, cats, and two royal poodles; the neighbor also has peacocks, geese, ducks, and a sheep. So if you’re looking to escape big-city smog, hustle and bustle, and traffic noise in search of clean air in a natural setting—and want the freedom to decide for yourself when and whether to enjoy an aperitif on the lively and beautiful Piazza San Giacomo in the center of Udine—you’ll feel right at home here.?
