Renovated, spacious and bright North Shore garden oasis/one bedroom suite

  • In the heart of Central Lonsdale, in the city of North Vancouver, this 1910 “Craftsman-era” heritage home is surrounded by 100+ year old cedar and fir trees and beautiful perennial flower beds. A corner lot, on the top of the 19th street hill, with a view of Lions Gate bridge, Burrard Inlet, and Lighthouse Park, this garden oasis is secluded, yet located within easy access to the downtown, the North Shore Mountains, and even Whistler Village. Simply the perfect base to explore and enjoy Vancouver for the first time or while visiting family and friends!

    Our home offers a renovated, fully furnished 700 square foot one bedroom self-contained basement suite. Please note if you are taller than 5’10 you may have to slightly duck! Guests are treated to a private entrance accessed via natural stone steps on the North side of the house, just off the gardens. The steps could be somewhat challenging for anyone with significant mobility issues. Motion detector lighting illuminates the path. Parking is available at the front of the house or above the back driveway. You are welcome to use the table/chairs ourside the suite door, but please no smoking/vaping in the suite or anywhere on the property.

    Bright and spacious, the floor to ceiling windows in the kitchen area offer peekaboo views of the North Shore. The suite boasts an open plan, carpeting and slate tiles throughout, and all the necessary amenities including in suite laundry. High speed internet access via WIFI, separate controls to base board and forced air heating ensures you can relax and enjoy your home away from home.

    We are located close to a number of must see Vancouver sites. Just above the driveway you are immediately at the new North Shore Green Necklace walking path leading into Greenwood Park. For those skiing and biking enthusiasts, or if you just want to take in some hiking, bear watching or spectacular views, there is easy driving access to Grouse Mountain (11 minutes), Mount Seymour (20 minutes), Cypress Bowl (30 minutes), and Whistler Mountain (75 minutes). Other popular destinations like Capilano Suspension Bridge (7 minutes), Stanley Park (10 minutes), Park Royal Shopping Mall (8 minutes) and the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal (16 minutes), are only a short drive away. Or take a leisurely walk or convenient bus ride down Lonsdale and enjoy Lonsdale Quay, and the shops, restaurants, waterpark or ice rink (depending on the season) at the Shipyards. At the base of Lonsdale, take the 12 minute Seabus ride across the water to enjoy downtown Vancouver. Be sure to have you camera ready as you take in spectacular views of the city, mountains, and Burrard Inlet while riding this passenger only ferry.

    And if need be, Lions Gate Hospital is a 1 minute car ride, or 13 minute walk away.

I had a wonderful stay here. The place was exceptionally clean and was stocked with everything I needed, making it comfortable and easy to settle into right away. One of the highlights was the beautiful garden—such a peaceful space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The location was also great, with convenient access to local parks for walks and exploring the area. Overall, it was a well-kept, welcoming home with excellent amenities, and I would happily stay here again.

The location of the property was perfect for touring sights in both downtown Vancouver & North Van - only minutes away from Lonsdale eateries & SeaBus as well as to Deep Cove & Grouse Mt. Very spacious & clean apartment with thoughtful touches by very gracious hosts. Very comfy bed, nice kitchen. Loved the peaceful garden setting. It’s obviously well-cared for by Frances & Terence. Would definitely stay here again!! Highly recommend!

Very nice property. In town but you would never know. Grounds are relaxing, clean and quiet. I enjoyed sitting outside and looking at the view. Hosts were outstanding. Very friendly and offered to help with stay if needed. Suite had everything I needed, full kitchen so I could cook what I wanted. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Having a washer and dryer for me, working outa town, was a huge bonus for me. I would give this property a five star rating, one of, if not the best, VRBO I have rented.Kevin Bretz

Frances and Terence were vary gracious hosts, made it feel a home away from home. Their property is well maintained and their backyard is beautifully landscaped, with an amazing view of the Lion's gate bridge and sunsets. After dealing with the traffic and overall city life, it is very relaxing to come back to a quiet and peaceful location to calm your nerves.

I can't tell you how wonderful my trip was. The residence was very easy to find. Short walk to so many shops and restaurants. The yard was beautiful as was the suite. It had everything anyone would want on a short or long stay vacation. It was impeccably clean and tidy. Bathroom was fantastic. Bed was soooooo comfortable. Place was beautifully decorated. Frances definitely has a flair! Hosts Frances and Terence were beyond lovely. They were very attentive and extremely helpful and so incredibly kind and friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend this option to anyone wanting a great place to stay. 10 out of 10 experience. I'd go back tomorrow, in fact I might!

This Garden Oasis property was the perfect home away from home for visiting family in North Vancouver. The garden is such a peaceful oasis, perfect for just relaxing with a cup of coffee and listening to the birds. This quiet, clean, private unit is inviting, spacious, comfortable, self contained with all the amenities of home and was well stocked with coffee, tea and spices for self catering. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back here when visiting family again later this year. Last but not least, our host Frances was warm, friendly, welcoming and attentive from the start and we could not have asked for a more perfect stay. Thank you Frances and Terence.
