St Etheldreda's Cottage, lovingly restored and impeccably presented

  • Our lovely little cottage is a level 100m walk from the picturesque High Street with its boutique shops, markets, historic sites and restaurants. The property was comprehensively renovated in 2016 and has an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary furnishings to a very high standard. The owners personally clean and prepare the house for every guest to ensure the standards are of the highest order, a food pack and flowers are provided to welcome you. Very sorry but we don't accept dogs.

The accommodation comprises of a well equipped kitchen/diner on the ground floor, a large lounge with Juliette balcony on the first floor and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the second floor. We have a shed for 2 bicycles/pushchairs too. It is perfect for couples of all ages and there is room for a travel cot adjacent the bed (we can supply cot and high-chair) - it's perfect for romantic and cultural breaks, wildlife watching @ the nature reserves, cycling/walking and has much to offer at any time of year .

A beautifully decorated and welcoming home. It was a pleasure to be able to stay there. Everything was provided that we might have needed. No problem parking in the adjacent street. Very good bus service to Glastonbury where we spent a lovely day and buses to plenty of other places if we’d had a longer stay. Wells is a lovely and quite compact city and we had a great time just pottering round all the interesting places. The cathedral is magnificent and well worth a guided tour. The only downside was the journey home with very long traffic jams! Thanks to Helen and Mark for their hospitality.

Perfect.

Absolutely perfect cottage. Great location, very clean, very comfortable, charming place. We stayed one week at the cottage and wish we could have spent another week. We enjoyed having a few nights staying in, the nice kitchen and wonderful sitting room made it easy to have dinner and relaxing evenings in. We enjoyed the nice garden space as well. The hosts are attentive and helpful. They provided us with useful information about Wells including, food, shopping etc. We would definitely stay again!

Good location in Wells, Somerset

We needed to be within close walking distance of the Cathedral for the whole week and this lovely cottage was ideally located in a quiet residential area 5 minutes from the City Centre. We were lucky to find free street parking close by. The property met all expectations and had recently been totally refurbished. Very helpful hosts who arranged early access for us. We would 100% recommend for any single person or couple who are able to manage living accommodation over three floors.

As good as it gets

We have just returned from two weeks in St. Etheldreda's and it has been a fantastic experience from start to finish. We fell in love with Wells and its surrounding area and also the cottage which has been so brilliantly designed with guests' comfort in mind. Last but very much not least, Helen has been the perfect host - superb communication and real concern for our comfort. We were delighted to meet her and get her views on local attractions, restaurants etc. All in all, a wonderful experience.

Weeks stay at this beautiful cottage

This cottage is beautiful it has been restored beautifully, it is a perfect size for a couple with everything you could wish for and spotlessly clean. The owners were brilliant at keeping in touch and sending all the information required. Wells is a lovely city with a nice range of shops and restuarants. Parking can be a challenge although we managed to get a space everyday, however when you are parked you dont really want to lose your space by going outside of Wells in the evening, unless you are prepared to get a taxi.

Wonderful cottage, great location

St Ethelreda's is a beautiful place to stay, with extremely attractive decor and furnishings. The cottage is in a great central location making access to the city easy, but it is also tucked away so stays nice and quiet. The interior is fantastically kitted out and has everything you could possibly need. The exterior is old and beautiful. Parking is also no problem in the local streets. We were provided with a lovely welcome pack to get us started too which was great! We will definitely be back and highly recommend a stay here! Thanks very much Helen and Mark.

Wells "Mews" cottage

Wonderfully clean and well appointed property very close to the city centre. We loved the "mews" feel of the location which was remarkably free from traffic noise. Would definitely return next time we're down Somerset way. Helen & Mark were excellent owners who helped with lots of useful info of things happening in the local area.

Peace and quiet in Wells

Everything was top class, so much thought has been used in the fittings in this gorgeous cottage, even though it's a stone's throw from the centre, it is so peaceful and quiet.

The location could not be better....you are close to restaurants, pubs, grocery stores, and shopping not to mention the historical sites. Comfort

Helen and Mark were wonderful hosts. There was plenty of information of places of interest, eating, and activities. The cottage is extremely well equipped, right down carrier bags for shopping. All these little things add up to the accommodation being ten out of ten. The rooms were exceptionally clean, decorated to the highest value, and there was an abundance of clean, white, soft linens. Thank you for all your work to present a home away from home. Kathleen and Tom.
