4. Red Hills Retreat — Upper Carriage House

Newberg

“We arrived to the upper carriage house, where a nasty nauseous rotten meat smell filled the room. This was quite unexpected and unsettling. We could not use the refrigerator, as it smelled of rotten meat. We asked for a refund and were denied. We were not offered a partial refund. We were offered a complimentary night stay. However, we were told the offer only lasted a week. Due to our home location, this was not realistic. We were excited to stay at the Upper Carriage House, based on the……

“Perfect place!! The 2 levels offer privacy if needed. Love the Master Suite area upstairs. It was extremely clean with state of the art appliances. The towels were plush and the shower was great. They even had special dog towels. On top of all that, the location was outstanding. Pretty much a 5-10 minute walk to Woodstock and anything you need. Neighborhood was nice and quiet. We will definitely stay there again.”

“It talks about a private entrance but it isn't because there are multiple rooms in the basement of this property that get rented out. I had hoped to have a private getaway and instead i was greated with a shared entrance and steep shared parking on gravel. Also, when you walk into get into the door there isn't an indicator as to which key box your code is for. The "doors" to each room/space is just a sliding glass door. Extremely revealing as we could see into both our rooms and others……

“There was no hot water. We came down to Eugene for a concert and our plan was to get ready at the home before the show. To our dismay, we found out there was no hot water and were forced to use a teakettle for warm water. We were in a rush to get to the show so we didn’t get a chance to reach out to the host immediately but did contact them later. I never heard back about our concerns. We spent nearly $400 for a one night stay And we’re very disappointed at the overall appearance of the home……
