About this place Our 1840’s renovated grist mill is located in the beautiful Monadnock Region. The house is situated on twelve acres and includes gardens, an orchard, berry bushes, grape vines, beehives, a dog, and a tremendous waterfall. We are close to many of nature’s gems including Mount Monadnock, Pack Monadnock, the Heald Tract hiking trails, skiing, snowshoeing and swimming. Also the acclaimed MacDowell Arts Center, Andy’s Summer Playhouse, Andres Institute of Art and the Waldorf Schools. The space This is a magical room with large old granite stones making up one wall and a bank of windows making up another. The french door opens to a large screened-in porch which overlooks a waterfall. With an antique four poster canopy bed and a tile floor with Turkish rug, you are sure to want to relax here. But nature is calling and you will also be inclined to wander along the water fall or out into the pavilion, gardens and orchard. Its a perfect place to just breathe. Please note that two cats and one dog live in this house (NOT in this room!) Guest access We are happy to have you come and go as you please and relax in your room and the screened-in porch or around the grounds as you like. During your stay I give my guests space but am available when needed We tend to let guests find their way to the RiverRoom following the instructions sent to them. We, or possibly Moby the Great Dane, may greet you as we love meeting our guests, but if we don’t come out, please find your way to the RiverRoom. You are welcome to come and go as you please. Please let us know if you need help with anything. Other things to note The bathroom, built into the original granite wall, is comforting and has a rustic charm. We have filtered water so it is perfectly safe to drink the water, however there is also Brita filtered water provided in your room.
We keep a dehumidifier running in the bathroom to keep the room fresh. Occasionally we will pop in to empty it. If you prefer emptying it yourself, just let us know. The bathroom is not shared, but is not en suite.
Dogs are welcomed in the RiverRoom, but they should not be left in the room when you go out. If you need to leave your dog, for instance to go eat, please be sure to crate your dog. Cats and other pets are generally not welcomed.
Smoking is not allowed indoors or outside. If you need to use medical cannabis, please inform the host so reasonable accommodations can be made.
