Beautiful place but our mattress was so hard, I lost sleep! There was a point where I considered sleeping on the floor, as I thought it might be more comfortable, and my partner developed back and hip pain. The staff was lovely, everyone was so friendly and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. About a 20 minute walk from city centre, the location was also great! Apart from the mattress, I would definitely recommend to stay here.

We were in room 169. It was a very long walk to the room. However, it was worth it. We had a full view of York Racecourse, from our balcony. The room was very roomy and well equipped. The restaurant served an excellent dinner and a very nice buffet breakfast. The hotel originally was a Manor House built in the 1880s. A very interesting history of it can be found online.

Lovely hotel and the staff were lovely. Our Room was nice, but sadly the bathroom was terrible. If you went for a shower the bath would fill with water because the plug was stuck closed and the door handle to the bathroom was falling off.

This hotel is amazing. We’ve been coming here as a family of 4 for over 7 years and every time it’s great. We’ve especially come for the pool and breakfast which are both excellent. I’d like to highlight the exemplary breakfast staff who do their upmost to make sure it’s special. Special hot chocolate? No problem. Special hot muffins? No problem. We use the family sized rooms and they’re great for a family of 4 with 2 big kids.

Hotel very clean, staff friendly. Check in slow as only one staff member on duty. Tiny pool, more of a plunge pool, busy. Excellent location, out of the city centre hustle. Great bus service into city. Lovely cafe across the road. Easy access for race course. Pricey but would stay again if cost was reasonable. Beer and larger cloudy in bar!
