The staff were so lovely and the hotel had lots of little nice touches that made it a pleasure to stay at. Dogo onsen was next door and the hotel provided towels and yukata to take. The room was quiet and peaceful. I didn’t dine at the hotel but enjoyed the free sake bar and there were lots of options for food nearby.

The room was quiet and peaceful. I didn’t dine at the hotel but enjoyed the free sake bar and there were lots of options for food nearby.

Twin-bed room, one-night stay, 13/02/2024 - 14/02/2024. This hotel is super clean and comfortable, like most hotels in Japan. Service was excellent and unthinkable for European standards, compared to the room price (36,30 euro including taxes). Two unique aspects: 1. Smell: the corridor on the second floor had a wonderful, indescribable scent of clean like the one one you sometimes smell on clothes. It was so enjoyable! 2. Smile: As the hotel name suggests, staff members had a large smile which I liked a lot (although they looked a bit tensed during check-in). By mistake I had booked a smoking room, but the staff kindly changed it to a non-smoking room right away. I only had a small breakfast; nonetheless I liked much the variety of Japanese food available. Suggestions for improvement: Curtains were too thin and let light filter on day time, which disturbed sleep. It would be nice to have completely light-blocking curtains.
