Stayed with my partner, and the entire area of Shimoda is so charming. If you want to experience a taste of the natural flora and fauna of Japan, this place is it. The staff were accommodating, helpful and kind, and the restaurant was excellent for a taste of the local cuisine. Great gems to be found nearby. My only recommendation is to rent a car for this area, as there’s so much to see but not all in walkable distances.

Staff is helpful, hotel is a bit dated. Kudos to the staff putting up with the rude and pushy customers. Food was good but customers didnt appreciate is as they prefer volume to quality. I woul guess they are used to eating from a trough.

The Marriott Associa’s connection with Nagoya train station provided easy access to transportation, a zillion excellent restaurants, and convenience stores. On one of the days of our trip when it rained, we did not need to go outdoors at all. Would definitely return.
