「Simply amazing. From we were greeted at reception we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The Pool House and Spa was made extra special by the brilliant weather we had this weekend.」

「We loved the situation next to the golf course. It was extremely quiet and tranquil. The lodge had everything you could need and the underfloor heating was amazing. The Alexa was an added bonus which we wouldn't have expected. It was also great to have a dishwasher and coffee maker with tablets and tea/coffee provided. Altogether a really great experience.」

「So much to say. Wonderful, friendly,chatty hosts, The house is spotless. They are so organised and work like clockwork. Nothing was too much bother for the hosts. It is asked that you vacate by 10 am but there was no rush for us to go. It's hard to express just how pleasant our stay was. Thankyou Pauline and Dave」

「I took on board comments about lack of noise-proofing from other reporters Anna that is the only thing preventing a 5* review. Julie was so helpful and a star; Claire served up a top-drawer breakfast made with high quality ingredients, cooked so well by the kitchen. Lovely contemporary bar and restaurant area - it’s just a move place to be.」

「Great sea front property. The garden was a fabulous added bonus. The décor throughout was beautiful. Evening food was delicious! Only moan really, was our room was too hot despite the fan being on all night, and a delivery lorry parked right outside our bedroom window to roll off barrels etc (albeit 7.45am and not 5.00am) On the whole, this is a fantastic hotel, and I would stay again and recommend others to do the same.」

「We loved our visit to the Colchester Boutique Hotel. It's very close to the centre of town where there are lots of places to get food and drink and do a little sightseeing. The hotel has a quirky charm with several communal areas decorated nicely with art and antiques. We particularly liked the vintage cigarette machine. Continental breakfast was lovely with lots of options: pastries, pancakes, cereal, fruit, meat and cheese plus an added bonus of scrambled eggs made to order. The staff were...

「It is a lovely building from outside it looks amazing but the interior does not match the exterior, nothing major, just a little tired and in need of some refurbishment in places, room sizes varied enormously between huge (double suite) and very cramped (twin room).」

「The staff were absolutely superb. Nothing was too much trouble and they made my husband, granddaughter and dog very welcome. The Sunday morning breakfast was a bit chaotic. Very busy and the hot food was disappearing very quickly, so there was always a key item missing. The staff were doing their best though. Lots of ceiling cobwebs in the room!」
