Its right on the river and just a short stroll to the beach, shops and cafes. It is modern with private ensuite and an excellent outlook at a very competitive price.

Enjoy the newly opened lighthouse, bush, beach and cliff top walks, paddle on the river, horse riding and mountain biking at your fingertips. Its a beautiful part of nature here and such a great part of the Great Ocean Rd. Nearby is the town of Lorne famous for its waterfalls and cafe strip.

Why this retreat was built and how to get there.

Owner/manager of A River Bed, Wendy, holidayed in the area as a child and,
loving the memories, moved here in 1997. While working in the Tourism/Accommodation industry for many years, saw a need
for modern self contained 'couple' accommodation. So created A River Bed, studio for 2.

Directions:

Take the Princes Highway from Melbourne, through Geelong and follow the signs to the Great Ocean Road. Drive through Anglesea and continue on to Aireys Inlet. Aireys is a tranquil seaside resort on the beautiful southern coast of Victoria.
When you enter the town of Aireys Inlet, drive past the shops on the left and the hotel on the right. Down the hill and, at the bottom, turn right into Bambra Road then left into River Road, left again into River Reserve Road. Second on the left, you'll see your car space at the front of the studio.

Location and what's nearby

A River Bed is close to Lorne, Anglesea, Torquay and the Otways but right on the Great Ocean Road and Surfcoast. Its so handy for day trips and a perfect base for your holiday or simply a weekend or overnight getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at this peaceful studio. It was quiet and relaxing. River was close by to do some casual walking and the big lighthouse wasn't far off either. The place was modern and had the main amenities. It met our basic needs for a two night stay.

The accommodation, although superficially clean, was quite neglected. The bed was ok and bedding clean but doona cover very old and shabby. In the bathroom, there was significant black mould around the bottom worse between shower screen and plinth at the bottom. The toilet bowl/ seat were clean, behind the seat it was grubby. The drapes were Illfitting and the windows needed cleaning. Outside, the verandah paint was peeling and furniture not too comfortable. All up, the place really needed an upgrade and just felt quite dreary. I have given the owner this info and she said she will look at it.

Peaceful location

Such a great location with so many walking options - beaches, lighthouse and local eateries. I enjoyed overlooking the creek opposite for its birdlife and occasional kayaker. The property was well presented and clean with basic cooking facilities. I spent a few days here on my own and felt very safe and comfortable. I’d be happy to stay here again to enjoy this beautiful area.

Lovely quiet location by the river. Comfortable bed, lots of hot water, well equipped. There was an issue with cleanliness. A dirty towel was left in the bathroom and the kitchen hadn’t been cleaned properly but the manager was very good and we reached a solution.

Airy's Inlet studio unit by the river

Quiet location close within walking distance to surf beaches, places of interest and other amenities. Wendy has provided a very clean modern Studio unit. The exterior surrounds are well maintained too which all made our stay very enjoyable and relaxing.

My partner and I wanted a get away and could not have found a more cosy and sweet place to stay, from the understanding of the host to the cleanliness of the studio and easy to follow instructions we cannot recommend this place more. On a quiet stretch of road next to a lovely river, it was the perfect place to base ourselves as we travelled around the area!!

Stunning Peaceful Location

We loved the quiet peaceful location right on the lake. The apartment was comfortable, however a little sparsely set up e.g. no shampoo or facial tissues. Otherwise, a really gorgeous place to stay!

A peaceful River Bed

This a compact but spacious studio. Its key feature is the glorious outlook onto Painkalac Creek. This view out to the water, visible from the veranda and inside the studio, is deeply soothing and peaceful. We fell in love with an egret that visited on occasion. At one point we needed to contact the host of the property and her response was timely and helpful. We hope to return.

When we arrived the utensils in the draw, the cups and bathroom mirror were dirty & there was a little bit of sand in the carpet. The bed was hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. The music at the pub close by was so loud on the Friday night that we were unable to sleep until after midnight and we had to be up at 6:30. Overall it wasn't a pleasant experience.
