I certainly appreciate your review but figured others might also appreciate some realism to be brought to the context of your review. Firstly, my name is Reive, not Reid. Secondly, we did have an issue with your check-in. While still at my own fault, I explained to you that we have a cleaning crew that comes in to prepare the unit for upcoming guests since I work full time and am unable to make that fit into my schedule. Once I received your message, I contacted our cleaning crew whom I couldn't get ahold of at first. Eventually, I was able to determine that they never showed up to clean that morning. As soon as I figured that part out, I asked you to call me and called out of my work to go clean the unit myself. I didn't message you on VRBO, as I didn't have any time to waste typing out a message when the biggest priority was driving to the house to get the unit cleaned and ready so you could check-in as soon as possible. While speaking to you on the phone, I mentioned that while you and your group were more than welcome to wait outside at the property while it was being cleaned, I also mentioned that if you needed to go do anything else like get something to eat or go shopping for anything, that may be an opportune time. I understand the inconvenience this can cause by having to change your plans when you had an intended check-in time, which is why I was originally planning on refunding a portion of your booking cost. While the unit was being cleaned, everyone parked their vehicles, got out of the vehicles, and stood in the driveway while temperatures were in the thirties. While I said you all were welcome to wait outside while the unit was being cleaned, I didn't mean you literally needed to stand outside, outside of your warm vehicles. While I don't know how we were able to get it done so quickly, we managed to get everything in the unit cleaned, other than the sheets, within 26 minutes of the start time of your booking. In your review, you say "It didn't seem like we needed to be waiting outside at this point because he was not inside the unit". And that makes sense to me, other than the fact that you called me while I was inside the unit, I let you know we just finished cleaning, I sent over the check-in instructions, and exited the unit. Would you have preferred to find me standing there in your rental unit to say hi after you entered? I guess I'll take that into consideration so I don't get any more "Red Flag"s. Thirdly, when we spoke on the phone and I explained that the sheets wouldn't be done until later, and I offered to come into the unit to put the sheets on, so that way you and your guests wouldn't have to do that yourselves. You told me your group wouldn't be comfortable with me coming in the unit while everyone and their stuff is there, which I told you I completely understood. I advised you that when the sheets were done, I would place them in a laundry bin outside of your unit for you. Following that, I was in the basement working on getting the sheets started as I started to smell drugs coming from the first floor, while simultaneously getting a call from the upstairs tenant complaining of an overwhelming scent of drugs coming from your unit. Given the circumstances, I figured I would let it go for now and finish working on the sheets. Shortly after receiving a call from the tenant, I began to hear you and your guests yelling and practically screaming, which sounded more like having fun and partying so there wasn't specifically a concern for safety, but the group was very obnoxious which we had to apologize to our tenant for. At 7:36, you called advising you needed a plunger because the toilet clogged and you overflowed it. You mention in your review that there were no other towels, but there were certainly other towels, paper towels, and other cleaning supplies in the unit that could've been used to prevent damage that you caused by overflowing the toilet. I went and picked up a new plunger and upon arriving back at the house, checked on the sheets in the basement. It appeared that no one was home anymore so I intended to leave the plunger with the sheets, since you requested I not enter the unit while anyone or your belongings are there. Upon checking on the laundry in the basement, I found a significant amount of water in the basement, directly below the bathroom toilet, with water continually dripping down from the bathroom. At this point, I documented the water and contacted VRBO. They advised that given the circumstances, they would support me entering the unit to prevent further damage. I sent you a message letting you know I needed to make entry to the unit to prevent further damage. I recorded the entire time from entering to exiting the unit to ensure there was no question of whether I was doing anything other than stopping the water from continuing to damage the house. Once I let you know that and that the remainder of the water was cleaned up, you didn't call, you only texted at 9:10p.m. with the following: "Just wanted to make sure new towels and sheets were going to be on the bed when we get back? We're out at coldshot now. Just FYI." At 9:15p.m., just 5 minutes later, I responded with: "So, I left them on the steps since you requested we not enter to put on the sheets from our earlier conversation before your arrival. I strictly entered the unit due to the exigent circumstance of water leaking through the floor, which I confirmed with VRBO would be within policy to do. If you would like me to go back in the unit while you are gone to put on the sheets, I would be more than happy to do so. I just want to make sure I don't enter to put on the sheets if you don't want me to." So yes, I did respond to you, regardless of what you want to say. Maybe you didn't have signal in the bar you were at and that's why the original call you claimed to make didn't get to me or that my text didn't get to you, however my phone showed the message delivered at 9:15p.m. You then claim in your review that I contacted you saying I entered the unit but didn't fix the overflowing toilet you caused, the water on the floor, or put the sheets on the bed. I sent you the text saying the water was cleaned up at 9:07p.m. which is actually when you responded three minutes later with your 9:10p.m. text asking if the sheets were on the beds. This didn't happen at 01:00a.m. Regardless of how bad you want to make your review sound. I did receive a missed call from you at 10:24p.m., which I was already asleep during. I woke back up later and texted you at 11:37p.m. apologizing for missing your call and told you you were welcome to call back if you still needed something, and I never heard from you again. And yes, that does sound accurate that the sheets were still warm at 01:30a.m., because they were in the same room as the FURNACE. That blows out heat so it sounds fairly logical to me that an item in the same room as a heat source might be warm. I'm not sure what lines you're reading between in your review as you state but at the end of the day on our part, we got a different cleaning crew that is more reliable and we haven't had an issue since in regard to having the unit ready for check-in. Regardless, we do apologize for the late check-in which was out of our control, however you did cause water damage to the house, brought in drugs which was extremely disrespectful as a guest, and were belligerent and loud, causing a disruptive time for our long term tenant. If you're not able to respect someone else's property and make a legitimate review after the fact, maybe VRBO isn't the best platform for you to find a place to stay.
