Surrounded by picturesque Kit Carson National Park, Valdez Canyon and the Rio Hondo tributary to the Rio Grande River, Ponderosa at A Bella Vista Valdez Lodge is minutes from Taos Ski Valley, Tao Pueblo, Village of Arroyo Seco and Town of Taos, providing guests with convenient access to every attraction this historic area has to offer. Privacy, mountain scenery, fine dining, local art, shopping, and every outdoor activity imaginable are yours at Ponderosa.
Guests should feel free to reach out to the Host and On-Site Manager with any questions or for assistance. Ask about our concierge service including provision of ski breakfasts and homemade dinners.
Located in Taos County, Valdez is a quiet community perched at the entrance of the Taos Ski Valley, offering breathtaking mountain, canyon and high-dessert views. Hiking, mountain biking, cycling, fishing, bird watching, backpacking, horseback-riding, camping, snowboarding, downhill skiing, hot springs soaking, and white-water rafting are all available in the area. Hosts are happy to share some local hidden gems with you.

• Each guest is provided a unique code during their stay for enhanced security.
• Free parking access for two cars is available in front of the residence as well as in the A Bella Vista Valdez Lodge parking lot.
Vast and warmly appointed, your sun-drenched 2-floor, 2-bedroom, 2-bath adobe residence at A Bella Vista Valdez Lodge features panoramic vistas through oversized windows with sliding doors, lofty ceilings with lattias and corbels, brick entry and radiant-heated tile floors, sky-lighted staircase, custom woodwork and cabinetry throughout, dual living rooms, propane -kiva fireplace on each floor, cook’s kitchen with European style appliances, original art and regional artifacts, spacious cedar deck with propane grill and seating off the main floor, and much more! The second floor features a grand master bedroom outfitted with king bed, kitchenette and seating, enclosed patio with wood-burning chiminea and bench seating, full sandstone tiled bathroom with bathtub and located across the hall the spacious but cozy second bedroom with two queen sized beds.
Private 4-wheel or all-wheel vehicle is necessary. Shuttle services are available for tours and airport transport. The nearest train station is in Ratan, NM. Taos has an airport which accommodates small prop and jet crafts. The nearest international airports are located in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM and Denver, CO.
• 4-Wheel Drive / All Wheel Drive vehicles are necessary to access the property via dirt road, particularly in winter, when snow tires are also recommended.
•. Cell phone service is poor to non-existent on the property, and will likely disappear altogether as you make your final approach to the residence. High-speed internet will support cell coverage, enabling calls, texting and messaging applications.
•. To avoid problems due to loss of GPS directions on your approach to property and to facilitate check-in, please make sure you to have directions, personal door code + WiFI info captured offline before arriving.
•. There is no air conditioning, which is not typically necessary in this locale. Portable box fans are available in the property, if needed.
