Nous sommes arrivés avec nos grands enfants et petits enfants dans une maison que l’on aurait pu croire celle de la famille depuis plusieurs générations. Tout le monde a eu un énorme coup de cœur et nous avons pris possession des lieux tres facilement. Nous avons découvert quelques petits défauts qui font le charme des vieilles maisons.La grande piscine chauffée a été très utilisée et naturellement fort appréciée. C’est un vrai plus pour un séjour et nous remercions les propriétaires pour un tel investissement ainsi que l’équipement du piano en cuisine. Nous avons cuisiné avec beaucoup de facilité.Cette maison est à recommander pour les familles qui aiment à se retrouver à plusieurs générations et qui aiment la tranquillité, loin des villes.Les sites touristiques importants sont assez proches et la description donnée était tout à fait conforme à la réalité. Das Haus von Familie Steinmann liegt traumhaft einsam. Es ist ein wunderschönes altes Haus, das sehr liebevoll und aufwendig eingerichtet ist. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr gepflegt, vor allem der Swimmigpool-Bereich mit Liegen, Sonnenschirmen und Außenküche ließen keine Wünsche offen. Die riesige Terrasse im oberen Bereich des Anwesens verfügt über einen tollen Essplatz mit großen Sonnenschirmen und viel Platz zum Spielen (z.B. Wikinger-Schach mit großen Gruppen). Der Ausblick in das Périgord ist traumhaft. Das Haus verfügt über sechs Schlafzimmer, die auf zwei Gebäude verteilt sind. Das eine Schlafzimmer roch etwas muffig, aber da wir nur zu neunt waren, war das kein Problem. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir haben für neun Personen gekocht - Töpfe und Pfannen sowie Geschirr waren in ausreichender Größe und Anzahl vorhanden. Wir haben mit der Familie wunderschöne Tage in dem Haus verlebt und können dieses nur empfehlen. Sehr angenehm war die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern, die stets sehr zügig geantwortet haben.

This is a good place to stay if you value some peace and quiet. It is secluded in woodland, and there is very little traffic on the nearby road. The grounds are extensive but for the most part overgrown and inaccessible to all but the intrepid. The pool area layout is excellent and probably the best thing about the property, we spent lots of time down there. The pool itself is very well-maintained and a pleasure to swim in, day or night.The house has character and has been furnished in a quirky way with some interesting antique-style objects, which might not be to everyone's taste. There are hundreds of books but almost all are in French. Rooms are large and the furnishings comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped but we were surprised not to find a more modern corkscrew, it being France.The nearby town of Montignac was a pleasant surprise, the old parts being very attractive. There is a good range of restaurants, encouraging us to eat out every night.All in all, we enjoyed our stay here.

Très belle propriété pleine de charme, nichée dans un environnement calme et luxuriant. Les deux points forts sont la piscine, grande et bien entretenue et une cuisine particulièrement bien équipée. Quelques bémols qu’on peut attribuer au charme de l’ancien, mais rien qui nous fasse regretter d’avoir passé une semaine avec notre famille qui des plus grands aux plus petits se sont régalés de ces bons moments.

Mooi domein, mooi zwembad maar krakende vloeren en schimmel

Het hoofdhuis (1ste verdieping, 3 slaapkamers) is ongelooflijk gehorig en de vloer kraakt verschrikkelijk. De douche daar heeft nauwelijks druk.In een van de kamers aan het zwembad was er flink wat schimmel, je kon het ruiken en zien. Ongezond gewoon. De poets was heel oppervlakkig gebeurd. Het en der waren ligbedden en stoelen beschadigd. Metalen tafels en stoelen waren stevig verroest.De tuin en het zwembad zijn fantastisch. Het terras is in ruwe beton dus moeilijk met kleine kinderen.

Delightful Location in Characterful House

The house is beautifully situated and the layout with the terraces, outdoor dining table and pool area worked perfectly for our group of 5 adults. We found all we needed in the kitchen for dining in - plentiful fridge space and super Smeg cooker. The bedrooms and living spaces are full of quirky antique furniture and books everywhere (which we loved). The Wifi in the main house was strong.The reason for 4* is that the bathroom in the main house is intended to serve 3 bedrooms, so that could feel tight if there were more guests and the top floors creak so much that anyone going to the loo in the night is in danger of waking up everyone else. Obviously, not a problem for some but it was for us. Finally, we were at the house in the week of the heatwave and the bedrooms were very hard to cool down, despite the two excellent fans: we could have done with a fan in each bedroom and would suggest anti-insect mesh in the windows so that the windows could be kept safely open at night. All in all we had a wonderful stay and were delighted by the local area.

Would not recommend, which is a shame as has real potential

Pool was the only gem, general house would benefit from some general maintenance and better cleaning. There is no cleaning kit available to clean during stay. Kitchen has ant problem and most rooms have hairy caterpillar problems.Two double and one twin room in the main house share a bathroom. There is a further bathroom near the kitchen. The annex has en-suite bedrooms, one upper double with terrace and a lower level double and twin rooms. However the lower bedrooms smell musty with damp issues which seriously need to be addressed and were plagued with bug problems, (THEY SHOULD NOT BE USED UNTIL ISSUES ADDRESSED). The other is aware as there is a dehumidifier in the twin room which has to be emptied every day. Their upper bedroom, bathroom fans do not work and is causing mould. The terrace has over grown vines and ivy, and very slippy when wet.The garden is over grown plants on steps leading down to the pool with no handrail. Some patio furniture is in a poor condition, a chair leg gave way and our daughter was lucky not to have been seriously injured.I am sad to have written such bad feedback but the property is in a remote location and could be amazing with some general maintenance but is not in a standard other French holiday homes in which we have stayed and for that reason we would not recommend.

Très belle propriété avec plusieurs tables et terrasses. Agréable piscine chauffée. Maison très ancienne spacieuse et très bien équipée. Très Bonne literie. Un bémol pour les deux chambres proches de la piscine qui sont humides. Le ménage n’est pas de bon niveau et doit être amélioré dans les 3 chambres vers la piscine et les sanitaires. C’est vraiment dommage.

L’annonce de cette location est très alléchante et c’est pour cela qu’on a réservé pour un séjour familial, pour 12 personnes.Malheureusement à notre arrivée, les maisons n’avaient pas été nettoyées. Il n’y a pas eu de ménage « post hiver », de remise en état de propreté et d’hygiène correcte pour une location avec le ménage et les lits faits. Il y avait des excréments de souris (ou autres rongeurs) sur les sols , on a même eu un mulot mort dans la cuisine , car le « soi-disant » homme ou femme de ménage avait mis de la mort au rat dans les coins et le long des plinthes. Nous avons une petite fille de 3 ans , j’ai donc aspiré tout le rez de chaussé de la maison principale. La cuisine , les salles de bains étaient sales avec un gros manque d’hygiène . Les sols du rez de chaussé de la maison principale et les chambres de la 2ème maison étaient dégoûtants , surtout le long des murs , sous les meubles (qui sont trop nombreux). Les chambres sont poussiéreuses, des toiles d’araignée de plusieurs mois, les murs en pierre qui s’effritent et qui tombent sur les meubles et sur les sols.La chambre 3 qui est dans la 2ème maison sentait l’humidité 24h/24 et était très froide. On a dû acheté une bougie odorante et un spray pour absorber les mauvaises odeurs. Il doit y avoir un problème de chaudière. L’eau chaude était parfois inexistante et parfois trop brûlante. Nous avons gardé des photos et une vidéo. Dommage, c’est un domaine avec un beau potentiel.

Thunder Storm

On the second night a thunderstorm brought part of the roof down. We had to move two of our beds into the kitchen and the falling in roof was covered outside by a plastic sheet. The dishwasher in the upper building did not work so we took the plates up and down to the dishwasher next to the pool. The property is lovely but could do with some renovations.

Disappointment

I needed a property for a group of 10 adults to act as a base to tour the Périgord Noir region. It was in a good quiet location and had a pool which was a requirement. Sadly, the house and outbuildings are in a state of decline. We experienced frequent sewage smells, poor plumbing with insufficient hot water and flooding showers.The kitchen was unhygenic with mouse droppings in drawers, on crockery and in cupboards. As our stay was quite short we chose to eat out. The owners could fix these problems over a winter season. The property is let down by poor maintenance.

Prachtig huis dat net wat meer aandacht zou verdienen

Het huis is prachtig gelegen aan een rustige weg met een mooi uitzicht. Het zwembad is comfortabel en ruim. De sfeer van het huis is authentiek maar we zouden het prettiger vinden als er bijv. geen spinnenwebben, muizen(keutels) en klemmende deuren zouden zijn. Een van de kamers (in het bijgebouw) was zo vochtig dat hij eigenlijk niet gebruikt kon worden. Wat wij echt niet vinden kunnen is dat de eigenaar ons financieel wilde compenseren voor de overlast vanwege technische mankementen die we 1,5 week hadden onder de voorwaarde dat wij geen negatieve review zouden schrijven. We vragen ons af of dit vaker is gebeurd waardoor de reviews allemaal positief zijn.

Parfait pour des vacances en famille: de l'espace pour chacun, une piscine vraiment grande, les espaces verts bien entretenus, rien à redire. Schöne Unterkunft mit Schwächen bei der Sauberkeit

Wir waren eine Woche mit 8 Personen in der Unterkunft. Leider war das Wetter nicht optimal, so dass wir den Pool weniger oft nutzen konnten, als gewünscht. Positiv: Schöne Unterkunft mit viel Platz. Schönes Ambiente, sehr schöner Pool, viele Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten. Neutral: Viele Küchenutensilien, aber sehr zusammengewürfelt. WiFi nur im Haupthaus. Zum Teil sehr niedrige Durchgänge (Balken) in den Häusern mit der Gefahr, den Kopf anzuschlagen. Negativ: Nicht sauber geputzt. Alle 3 Kühlschränke schmutzig. Außen nicht sauber (Verbandspflaster, etc). Mehrere WC-Sitze nicht festgeschraubt. Hier ist definitiv noch Luft nach oben.
