We were expecting quirky and charming (with a cult following) but we were so disappointed in the hospitality, mismatched microfiber sheets, crunchy towels and used bath mat…we chose to leave after about an hour and drive through the night. Also, the address says it’s in Beatty but it’s at least half an hour out of town.

A unique place to stay. Eclectic antique furnishings were fun. We enjoyed soaking in our private heart-shaped hot tub. The host suggested stargazing out behind the property, and the stars were great. Great collection of books in the parlor and dining room. Peacocks wandering about are fun. Our host was warm and friendly, the breakfast was large and tasty, and we enjoyed talking to other guests.
I guess technically it is in Beatty, but it is about 30 minutes north of the town center.

Don’t know about pet friendly however the owners are very accommodating to all of our needs. The room was cool but they had a space heater that made our room perfect.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of days during our trip to Death Valley National Park and I have to say it was such a wonderful unique experience!
We stayed in their cabin and it was perfect. Very private with our own deck area with pool and our own fire pit with these spectacular peacocks everywhere and views!! Couldn’t believe it. They were so tame and beautiful. I actually fed one with my own hands. They come and visit you every morning to say “Good morning”
The best part was our hosts, Jennifer and Nigel. They are the kindest, sweetest people ever. The breakfast was great! Jennifer was kind enough to make sure my frenchie had some breakfast too! She cooked him eggs and bacon and sausage the days we were there treating us like family! Thank you. We had a fantastic time.

Really frustrated that the listing advertised its location as Beatty, NV when in fact it is about 20 miles outside of Beatty. This makes an astronomical difference if you’ve been hiking/exploring Death Valley National Park until sunset and want to get to your accommodations.
Being from out of town, and taking the listing as advertised, I did not map the address provided before we traveled. I didn’t think I needed to.
Ended up booking a last minute room at the Motel 6 in the actual town of Beatty. Was fortunate to get a room at 7:30 pm.

Me and my sister just came out for a few days to visit Death Valley National Park and the hosts made us feel like we were at home. Also it is such a serene property that helps one escape the hustle and bustle of city life (at least where I’m coming from). Would definitely stay there again! Also very friendly pets on property!

Jennifer and Nigel are absolutely the best bed and breakfast hosts in the industry! They are organized, kind, gracious and a lot of fun! Our delicious hot breakfasts both mornings were the perfect start to our days exploring Death Valley National Park. If you are visiting the Beatty, NV area we highly recommend staying at the Shady Lady.

Shady lady is a hidden gem for those looking for a place with character and soul and great hospitality and quaint rooms. It’s a breath of fresh air from the usual sterile motel 6 experience. If you like animals, there are cats and dogs and peacocks, yes peacocks! And not too far from death Valley.

Clean room, bed is very soft, cute atmosphere, Nigel was very helpful and attentive, Erica provided an excellent breakfast.
We didn't use the heart shaped hot tub as it looked too difficult to get in and out of.
Was on our bucket list since 2017. Lot of history.

Room and hosts were outstanding! The location is out there, so know what you’re getting into before booking. Didn’t stop us from enjoying our trip though. Do wish the cabin door locked.
