Excellent choice for Bologna!

Tiziana was always available to help/advise/recommend, both before we arrived and throughout our stay. The location was outstanding for us. In addition to being virtually next door to Gamborini's pasticceria, it was within walking distance to the Centro storico and all it has to offer. The Mercato Delle Erbe with its numerous stands and restaurants was less than a block away. If we wanted to explore further afield, there was a taxi stand nearby. Bologna Adventure

Bologna was a new destination for us. We travel frequently and use various housing options. The location of the apartment was great. The pre trip support was very good. The check in and apartment experience were subpar. The host assumed that I received out of system chats. I did not. That was the source of a lot of misunderstanding including how to manage access to the building and parking options. We finally moved to direct email as I could not use WhatsApp. It would have been easier to keep all communication within the Vrbo app but that did not happen. During the stay, we were lucky to meet neighbors in the apartment building that helped with access to the building when the phone code did not work. That was about 50 percent of the time. We also struggled without hot water and limited access to internet. (Conflicting codes received). The phone also rang all night so we had to remove it from the cradle to be able to sleep. Bologna was nice and if we had smoothed out the communication earlier it would have been a more pleasant experience.

A lovely property ruined by terrible communication

To begin with I want to be clear that the property itself was in a very desirable location and was very comfortable. Unfortunately there was a almost complete lack of communication despite multiple efforts to send phone messages and email messages the day before and the day of our visit. The login instructions and codes were incorrect and we could not get into the apartment and finally after 2 1/2 hours Of trying to call the property manager and reach out through Vrbo‘s office we made a decision to try to find a hotel for our stay. Literally 30 seconds after we secured a nonrefundable hotel room the property manager arrived very apologetically and let us into the apartment. We lost $1200 on the hotel reservation. We have been traveling with VRBO for many years and have made many many rentals and always given excellent reviews. This was the first time that I could not do so.
