「The hotel is incredible and the staff to match. Food is good quality although service can be poor at times. Certainly recommend staying, as this hotel is very relaxed with pets (dogs) allowed to stay.」

「The staff were welcoming and very helpful on our arrival. The bedroom and rest of the Anvil was always clean and tidy and parking was ample with clear and easy access. The evening food menu needed more variety and the cooked breakfasts were over-cooked.」

「The hotel is very well run and the hosts are very helpful. The rooms are a decent size. Although it took a while for the water to warm up in the shower. I acknowledge that this is beyond the owner’s control, but my second floor room overlooked a junction and the traffic was noisy . At about 4am a lorry collected the empty glass bottles. The noise of the crash as the glass shattered was shocking. Avoid a roadside room on a Wednesday morning….if you want undisturbed sleep.」

「The hotel was further from Lyndhurst than I expected and although that wasn't an issue, it was further than I anticipated. This for us was the only downside to the stay. The room was cosy and comfortable and somewhat quirky. We loved its uniqueness. The hotel restaurant was lovely and we enjoyed our dinner there on our overnight stay. We would definitely stay again as it was convenient for a stop over before embarking on a cruise the following day from Southampton.」

The hotel itself needs some updating , blown windows peeling paint work in the bar reception area .The staff were polite and professional even though they were obviously understaffed ! Well done Ben you were excellent at your job . Keeping everyone served whilst also checking guests in . Unfortunately the evening meal wasn’t the best , but in the morning the breakfast more than made up for it . A selection of of pastries, fresh...

「I have just stayed at The Fighting Cocks for the weekend. Unfortunately we choose the weekend of the A31 closure and the New Forest fires! Resulting in a lot of traffic passing the pub. Not their fault. The staff were very helpful and friendly the room was great, clean and comfortable and breakfast was included and really tasty. We had an evening meal on the Saturday which was ample and reasonably priced. All in all a great little stop over.」
