Lake vacation

The spot on the lake is perfect. The host was excellent in their communication and responsiveness. We all fell in love with the location of the property and the ease of access to the lake. Our group had planned to keep the kids entertained by going out to get ice cream etc.; however, the kids had so much fun on the lake we never had to leave the house (other than a run or two to the store). There is a dollar general market very close by and a Walmart not too far. Looking forward to making this an annual stay with our friends/family group.

Surprises Around Every Corner

This is the perfect lake property. The log cabin is stunning and the views are lovely. There are so many sitting options and so many places to cast a line. Boat ramp is super close and easily accessible which was wonderful in allowing us to keep our boat tied up in the dock. Upstairs sun deck was a perfect place to sit back, enjoy a beverage and enjoy the view.

It was a wonderful family honeymoon!

We got married and wanted to celebrate with the grown kids and grands and it was the perfect place for that! We had a great time and the house made it easy for everyone to either be together or have some quiet time on their own. The dock and lake were wonderful! It was wonderful!

Another great stay at Hobo Haven

We've rented here several times. We love it! We had a wonderful vacation once again. As we've stated before, it's a little bit of a country feel but on the lake. Fishing was awesome! Grandkids had a blast swimming and fishing! Just wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back!

Relaxing cabin

We just got home from our weekend visit. It was a short trip and wish we could have stayed longer. The house and property are very nice and just as described. Enjoyed spending our afternoon sitting by the fire watching our grandchildren fish. Everything you need and very beautiful and quiet location.

Family Summer Vacation

House was perfect for our size family! Adults on top floor, kids on second floor, living space and kitchen on 1st floor! Was very easy to spread out while inside which was not very often. The 3 lots the house sits on gave the 4 boys plenty of room to fish and the largest bass over 4 lbs. was caught right there off the stone wall. Lots of swim toys and jumping off the top of the boat house was a hit. Owners explained the construction that was going on since there had been so much rain in the area and were super cool to accommodate by allowing the use of the boat lifts! Great time! Great weather! Overall an awesome vacation!

Beautiful Christmas get-away with family

This beautiful log cabin home on Lake Gaston was the perfect place for our family to gather for Christmas. Such warmth and character. The kitchen had everything we needed for some delicious cooking over the course of several days. We brought our own Christmas tree, along with some simple Christmas decorations, that really made it feel like home! The weather was warm enough for us to be able to be outside and gather with a fire every night. We fished for some catfish off the dock, and got a massive big blue catfish on Christmas morning! We will book again in the summer months when we can access the lake with a boat and kayaks!

Friends vacation

Nice quiet neighborhood. Great cove spot on the lake caught plenty of fish off the dock. Paddle boards and kayak were nice to use. House was ok very big and spacious plenty of areas to hangout and play games or just sit and chill. Fire pit area is new and very nice. When we first arrived we had to sweep and remove cobwebs from windows. Back yard is under construction so I would say not good for kids or older people until it is fixed. Everyone slipped down the hill of rocks at some point in our stay. 3rd floor front bedroom bed was noisy and not comfortable for me and the Window ac units could use a cleaning also.

Quirky but nice

House was beautiful and obviously well loved. Some bedroom doors wouldn't close becuase the handles were broken but easily worked around. The only thing i am not a fan of was originally we were told that laundry would be a $50 fee if we didnt have time to complete it and understandable price for convenience and then right before check in it said in the check out instructions that the luandry fees would be $150 so we brought our own sheets to avoid a fee. I would almost rather have them not supply the sheets at all at that point. Great house good host but luandry fee is ridiculous bring your own sheets

We can't say enough!

This was the equivalent of a close family member giving you the keys to their lake home. It's not a hotel -- you're on your own to maintain cleanliness while you stay there - but you're free to use anything they have on offer. We stayed for six days, cooking huge family dinners, sitting out at the fire bowl, napping in our respective corners, enjoying time on the covered decks and watching the wildlife in and around the lake. The owners were ultra-communicative -- very responsive but not intrusive - before, during, and after our stay. The home is gorgeous; the photos of it and the surrounding property do not do it adequate justice. If you're a home cook, you can make just about anything if you are resourceful. We made lasagna, breakfast casseroles, and even beef Wellington! Wi-fi signal was good and strong, as some of us had to handle some work emergencies and did so with no issues. Indoor heat was not an issue at all, but you have to follow the excellent directions given by the owners. We were very cozy during our stay when nights could be very cold but days could be anything from sunny and warm to rainy, chilly and damp. Plenty of clean and cozy throw blankets to drape on your lap while watching TV or reading a book. We were accompanied by our clean, well-behaved large-breed dogs, and they loved the property as well. These owners are kind, good, and generous folks. It was a privilege to spend our family holiday at their home. The memories will last a lifetime.

Thanksgiving at the Lake

The location was beautiful. The first day was spent in clearing away the cob webs inside and outside the home. Upon walking in we walked through several spider webs. We then had to make up the beds, (I had to wash one bed spread that was dirty before sleeping underneath it) sweeping the floors and turning on the heat. It looked as if no one had been there in a long time. The house was freezing cold. There were not enough blankets. The bathroom on the main floor only dispensed hot water so we had to keep bottled water for brushing our teeth and washing hands. At the end of the stay, we had to wash, dry, fold and put away all of the linens. It took 5 hours because it was a lot of laundry and we wanted to do a good job. We had to take the trash to the shell station down the road. It was a beautiful location but a lot of work for a getaway. You have to really like spiders.

Love Love Hobo Haven

Our family absolutely loves this house for so many reasons. The property is pet friendly, and almost completely fenced in which is a huge plus. We comfortably had 6 couples in the bedrooms, and 4 teens on the middle floor - there are bunk beds there and plenty of room to set up two air mattresses for them to spread out and have their space. We enjoyed eating out on the screened in porch when the occasional rainstorm would crop up, but primarily we were on the dock all day! The water is nice and deep, so jumping off either of the docks was fun and safe. Everyone really enjoyed using the paddle boards and kayak, and floating on the giant mat was very relaxing. Even though we had a few issues upon check in, the owners are ALWAYS responsive and make it right to the best of their ability - we so appreciated their care. I do love that there is everything you need for your stay. There are trash bags, hand soap, dish washing soap, etc., and all the necessary kitchen items available. I always pack these things when I travel, but this home is well stocked. The only recommendation I would make is to get a new mattress for the sleeper sofa, as the one that is on there is not able to be slept on. No doubt we will be coming back for a 3rd visit next summer as this place just has it all. Thank you all so much for another awesome family vacation!

Always love staying here. This was not our first visit. Always a mixture of country and lake all in one. We love it and it's very near to our favorite fishing spots. We had a great time and will stay again!

For a last minute stay in the fall, it was a nice stay. There may have been some vacancy between the last stay and ours which led to it not being as clean (kitchen, surfaces, webs across most entries to the home. Setting was nice - we enjoyed the cabin feel of the home and it was stocked with a ton of stuff. Overall still had a great time

Check in and out is always a breeze. Everything you will ever need to cook with.....it's here. All convenient appliances provided. Beautiful cabin right on the lake. Awesome firepit here with lots of sitting space for sitting around a nice fire at night. The house is so big making it nice for everyone to spread out and be comfy. We loved our visit. This was our second stay. We will definitely be back.

Week was awesome! Host (Gail) was very responsive! This home has everything needed for a great stay at the lake. The kids had every water toy imaginable…including a lily pad and water trampoline. The fishing from boat and bank was great. Rained a bit but the screened in porch was an awesome place to spend the day! Katie the cleaning person was so helpful when we arrived…was a long ride from DE and she allowed us early to use the bathrooms and asked if we needed anything! Wi-Fi worked great and with the streaming services we were able to enjoy the Phillies during our stay! This was our second summer staying here and look forward to many more family vacations here!

Wonderful!

We stayed at this home for a fishing tournament our son participated in. It was comfortable, clean, cozy, and stocked. It is lovely in the inside and just beautiful on the outside. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay and enjoy!

Everything was awesome..very comfortable
