  • (Flower is fuschia heath) A “BEAUTIFUL” DAY In typical Ian fashion, I had ideas where I might go but left it till the morning before I was convinced it would be Barren Ground. Despite its unattractive name there was a promise of wildflowers. I’d bypassed it on a previous trip but its curious name lured me in. I’d zig-zagged up the Jamberoo Mountain Road the day before but I still managed to marginally overshoot the turn off. Alighting at the carpark I could see I wouldn’t be alone, but you certainly wouldn’t call it crowded. I chose the Griffith Trail, apparently it’s rated number #30 on N.S.W. top 60 day walks. Tasmania really started something all those years ago when they came out with their top 60 brochure, stealing a march on other states. I was so pleased when I cracked 40 of them but N.S.W.’s had escaped me then and continues to do so. I have no idea where the rating on the sign came from. The trail has a feature, a natural stone bridge. That conjured up all sorts of images in my brain but I wondered if the 8kms would push my dodgy knees to the limit. Nothing ventured……. There was an expectation of wildflowers. It had said on sites that I’d checked that now was a prime time. They weren’t immediately apparent but when I came across the first batch it was merely a prelude. Soon they were in abundance, at times the best displays I’d ever seen. Violet, yellow and white were in profusion, scattered all along the edge of the track.

  • Australia, land of the beautiful sunsets. When I think of Australia, I think of beautiful sunsets. This photo was taken last year on my 1 year backpacking trip through this beautiful country. Probably the most astonishing sunset I’ve ever seen so far. Crazy enough I was walking down the beach all alone while this explosion of magic happened in the sky. I was quit surprised actually that no one else came down to admire it. “There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. check in very easy we was a group of 8 adults we loved the property The kitchen is well equipped and the fire was unbelievable i might suggest a fire pitt outside as we would have spent a lot more time outdoors The middle shower needs a new shower head was very annoying as the water was leaking out on to the floor We all had a great time and definitely would recommend

Great property shame about the water

We had no running water for our stay unless we went out across a muddy field day or night and turned on the motor, which I imagine needs to be replaced. While the property was fantastic size and amenities, I really think we should receive compensation for this trip as it was ridiculous to have us there without running water on demand. It sort of ruined it for us

Tranquility

The main home was a delight to stay in and inclusive of everything you could desire to have a fantastic weekend. The only minor disappointment was the bedroom located away from the main house as it was somewhat musty and damp in smell. The weekend and prior days did feature extensive rain, so perhaps that led to the minor blemish in what was a very enjoyable stay.

Weekend Celebrations with friends

We were a group of six adults, who were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We arrived on a Friday and took advantage of the late check out on Sunday (4pm). The property offered a good place to entertain; play tennis; walk to Berry; and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. Ticked all the boxes!

Superb Property

A wonderful weekend celebrating my husbands special birthday. The whole family from 14 - 50 year old's enjoyed the facilities and especially the grounds and competition tennis court. The property is superb in every way, from comfortable furnishings with the little extras included like throw rugs, soap, activities etc. We will be back for sure - a weekend was not long enough. Thank you for providing such a beautiful property, inside and out.

Picturesque, serene, amazing, property has everything you need - we had a weekend away with 4 couples celebrating a few birthdays. We loved everything about this property - kitchen was so well equipped for our feasts we cooked up. Had a great time on the tennis court, didn't want to leave. We loved the fact that this house slept 8, was a gorgeous house with great interior furniture, had an open fire (very well stocked with wood), we loved the setting, the tennis court, the location to Berry, the fabulously stocked kitchen.
