Horrible hotel in a tiny town

Room was freezing even at 75 degrees, until the sun comes up, shining brightly into the curtainless windows. There are blinds, but they block none of the light. It’s not like I could sleep anyway with the sounds of the nearby train going all night. The couch in the room was disgustingly stained, and the TV only had one volume - LOUD. Never again.

Historical charm

The hotel is a beautiful historical building located in the heart of Fort Madison. We stayed in room 303 which has a view of the Mississippi River as well as the train tracks (for train lovers). Despite being so close to the train tracks, the hotel is rather quiet, and we were provided ear plugs and a noise machine which helped with the noise that did come through. The hotel was clean and overall well maintained, although our tub drain did back up during showers and our AC struggled to cool the room during the day. The bed was rather uncomfortable and the sheets were too small for the depth of the bed and would slip off of the corners during the night. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel in Ft. Madison

We loved our stay at the Kingsley Inn! It's a very unique property, located in a historic building with old touches, eclectic elements and modern conveniences. Our room had views of the river, was exceptionally clean, large and well stocked.

Staff members are wonderful! Kat took us around and told us interesting stories and history about the hotel. Clean rooms. Hot shower!! Relaxing atmosphere. Non drinker found fun at the at attanched pub playing games. Highly recommended if you’re looking to get out of the city!

The inn was very pretty and the room was beautiful. The only complaint would be that the bed was noisy and uncomfortable. It seemed smaller than a queen. Also, we needed more pillows than two for two people.

Very nice old hotel with great staff and fantastic weather. The hotel had a great bar and staff. Nice view of the river and trains. Walkable to the train station,New Marina, Swed Coffee shop & others. When I say trains I mean trains. A train lovers dream for the activity. The swing bridge over the Mississippi is very cool.

Lots of History!

We had a great stay! Jason at the front desk was awesome! This is a VERY old building with a lot of history. If only the walls could talk! We were told that we could explore any room with an open door. Each room had a book with notes from previous guests. It was interesting to read the different rooms books. We had a great time.

We enjoyed our stay. We thought the breakfast was good. We would have liked more bottles of water in the fridge. Housekeeping did not service our room throughout our 3 day stay. Even when we put the sign on our door before 10am. We slept well.

Never knowing for sure what to expect of an unknown place, I take to the reviews. I felt pretty confident after reading reviews that it was a good hotel, and it is. Extremely kind people upon check-in, and the room is perfect. It’s clean and very comfortable and plenty of room. I especially like the wide hallways and decor. Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow.

Nice remodeling to make it look old. Everything was great with the exception of the trains in the night. But even they weren’t too bad. Had a great stay. Need to get the bridge fix before I can recommend to my friends and neighbors since we are all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and want to see the Nauvoo Temple. Thanks

The Kingsley is a fun historic property right on the Mississippi River waterfront. Clean and comfortable. There are several restaurants in the area, and the hotel also has one that is open most nights. Great coffee shop on the next block over! I personally enjoyed the busy railroad activity, but it is very close to the hotel and could be a problem for some. Super friendly, helpful staff!!

Thoughtful Management

Great experience. The hotel manager called me after booking to get me into a better/cooler room during a heat wave. The hotel overlooks the Mississippi River and adjacent railroad tracks. The windows appear to have extra soundproofing so that very little train noise comes through.

This is one beautiful property. Greeted by the friendly staff, was showed to our large clean room and given a token for a free drink in the lounge. Bed was comfortable. TV was great with quality picture and lots of channel choices. We had a nice view of the river and the fort, Breakfast was continental with quality options. Lounge had lots of cool decor and had museum quality items. If you like trains you will love it. Don't worry, even though it is right next to the tracks you barely hear them. Can't wait to go back again!
