Welcome to Dove Cottage, where you will discover a special slice of Australian history. Our cosy 1850s stone cottage blends old-world charm with modern comfort, with slate and timber floors, warm rugs, a welcoming fireplace for cool evenings and comfortable beds for a restful night's sleep. Outside, almost an acre of gardens and paddocks offers plenty of room to relax before exploring the region. Inside the cottage, you will find a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and a dishwasher, along with a generous farmhouse breakfast to enjoy at your own pace. The sitting room offers a peaceful place to unwind, with a woodfire and a comfortable spot to enjoy a glass of local wine. The cottage has two spacious bedrooms with queen beds dressed in Belgian linen, two bathrooms stocked with Leif botanical products, and a fold-out bed available on request. There is also a small study overlooking the garden, providing a quiet place to read or unwind. Air conditioning keeps the space comfortable on warmer days. Outside, the rambling gardens and paddocks are filled with birdlife, and you may even spot kangaroos during your stay. Burra is only a short drive away, offering antique shops, cafes, historical sites and access to the Burra Heritage Passport tour. The Heysen Trail is also nearby for walking or cycling. The Clare Valley is only 30 minutes away and offers wineries, restaurants, the scenic Riesling Trail and a range of local produce and cellar doors. Amenities include Wi-Fi, reverse-cycle air conditioning, ceiling fans, a slow combustion fireplace, washing machine and dryer, barbecue, outdoor seating, and free on-site parking. Self check-in is available via lockbox. Some doorways are lower than modern homes, a reminder of the cottage’s Cornish mining origins, so please mind your head while moving through the rooms.
