I'm sorry to say but didn't have a good experience. Fixtures and fittings were poor. TV didn't work much, poor signal. Latch on window broken. Curtains fell down so they moved us to another room. TV still didn't work that well. No heating only towel rail. Room cold unable to fill the bath up as only the shower worked. Would I stay there again no.

My husband and I stayed here for a last-minute trip and were not disappointed. The hotel is charming - it's an older building with an old-world feel to it. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful and the location cannot be rivaled. We definitely have plans to return the next time we're in the UK.

I have visited several times over the past few years and watch it slowly decline. Now with new management the change is wonderful. There is still room for improvement but i will visit again to see how it grows more popular. The building is old but has a character that many modern hotels lack. I wish the new team all the bestfor the future.

Near Pen y Pass

Six mile drive from Pen y Pass car park and therefore convenient after a tiring day. Service was slow due to minimal staffing but staff were friendly and efficient once you had their attention. Sheets, bath, toilet and sink were clean but other areas of the hotel rather dusty and spiders settled in ceiling corners throughout. Very difficult to find a place to have an evening meal in the village, some places closed at 5.30 pm during the early part of the week and only a few were open for food for an hour only 6.30 to 7.30 and had “ sorry full” signs. Difficult to find a cleared table for Breakfast which was cooked to order and arrived quickly.

On arrival (evening)told rooms not been cleaned due to being short staffed , we were then given a room on the top floor (36) which did not look like pictures online (very disappointing), it was small and dated, and decor very tired , a little grubby. It was at the back over looking the ventilation systems and boiler rooms . Needed window open as extremely hot and the noises and smells were very unpleasant . Difficulty sleeping. Breakfast was very good , a good selection.

Not the best...

In need of some serious refurbishment! The hotel is clean enough, but needs some money spent on it. Worn carpets, flaking paint, showers not working, windows that won't fully close. Not a great experience, especially for the prices charged. I aways try to support independent hotels, but this one was an own-goal. Never again. One positive - the poor guys running reception, the bar, acting as a waiter (on his own) was polite and welcoming.

The property needs updating, it was clean but interior looks tired. We asked to be moved from our first room as we had a view of a dirty roof and a ventilation unit. Not what you want when visiting an area of outstanding beauty or the £200 we paid to stay for 2 night. We got upgrade to another room with a much better view of the mountains. There was an issue with rusty water leaking from the ceiling into the bath from the bathroom above, but informed manager and a handyman came to dress the issue. There was an issue with the gutter outside, with rain dripping from it to the flat roof outside our room keeping us awake at night. The bed was comfy though. Breakfast although nice, felt we were rushed to order our hot breakfast. Staff were welcoming and happy to deal with our issues.

Royal Goat is a Royal Pain

This hotel looked OK in the pictures, but reality was something different. The hotel has 'history', but that's all. I don't think it's been updated since the 1950's. On top of that, we booked months in advance - but when we arrived they said we hadn't paid and had to pay again. We have since confirmed payment, but I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for months to get a refund of the duplicate payment. Beddgelert is a nice place and I would have recommended their sister property Saracens Head instead - except that they have also been stone-walling us on our attemp to get a refund. At this point, I would recommend avoiding both properties to be safe. A real low spot in an otherwise wonderful trip to Wales.

The room was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and was a king size instead of a double. The staff were so friendly and amenable, the only downside was if you want a lie in and you’ve ordered breakfast you won’t get one as breakfast is served between 7.30am till 8.30am also towels not big enough for a shower or bath

SCAM, not a hotel, not worth a pound

This place is a scam, I have stayed at better no-stat hotels than this. Price and quality must match, but I paid 170 £ for something worth less than 40. The guys that run it do try to, but they lave the skills, knowledge and basic competencies. Groundlevel restaurant windows are so dirty (those were their main attraction) floors were full of last weeks crums, drinks were hot and after my arm got stuck by the grime on the table I simply dropped breakfast as I did not want to risk food poisening. The rooms might have passed as hostelrooms in the 80ies but nothing worked, no aircondition, Bulls were all gone. This place piger to be shut down or renovated and run by people who know what they are doing. Have not had such a bad hotel experience since backpacking in Indonesia in 1992, and there the room cost 5£.

Booked this hotel for a weekend due to location to Watkin Path. Staff so kind & helpful, Rooms clean & tidy with ensuite bathrooms including baths in two out of 3 rooms booked. Use of lift to rooms. Breakfast selection plentiful and hot, evening meals superb & well priced. Hotel also offers a cool room to store food & drinks for your climb, as well as offering a snack pack to buy for your day out. The Goat Hotel is based in Beddgelert & walking distance to amenities. We will definitely be booking for a return visit.

My room here was nice & had a good peaceful sleep. But sorry to say that's the only positive from my stay. I arrived to check in at the time stated on booking but cleaning was still in progress No sign of any other staff. A cleaner went to find someone & a lady arrived. Reception area seemed to be someone's office? I was given a key and told my room was on first floor. No information offered on arrival re. facilities and no guest information book in the room. Lovely large bath towels provided but would be nice to have a smaller hand towel too? Also bath is a slip hazard due to overbath shower so please consider a non slip mat for the shower. I couldnt work out how to lock door when going out so had to leave unlocked! I had no idea re. restaurant times as no information so took a gamble and went down 6.30pm. The place was deserted. I asked if food was being served and was given a table. I ordered my meal ..fish & chips .. was nice but nothing special. Im not sure but felt like it was more like a frozen supermarket meal & for the price charged was disappointing. I was the only one in the restaurant the whole time. I waited for someone to come to offer me a desert menu but the lady had gone again! so had to miss that. Went for breakfast but again absolutely deserted and no sign of any breakfast set up! Annoying as i had paid for a breakfast I decided to check out and leave. No one about again except a young man so i just gave key & left feeling hungry. Very disappointed.
