"Im honestly not sure where the bad reviews come from. The place was well kept, the room was clean and they didnt charge me anything extra a few others mentioned. The freeway is across the street and obvious, but the noise goes away in your room. I wasnt expecting a four seasons stay. Ii feel like we got what we paid for nothing more, nothing less. Would stay again."

"We enjoyed our two-night stay at this family-focused hotel. We booked last minute and got a first floor patio room with ocean view. We enjoyed sitting on the patio, but next time we would book a higher floor. There will be a next time! Carlsbad is only a hour away from where we live, so it was good for a quick getaway from the heat. It is just steps from a nice restaurant that's been there for 50 years and a quick walk across the highway to sit on the beach (loved watching the surfers). Lots of families book it for a week in summer and that is perfect because Legoland and other attractions are close by. The pool is large and we we enjoyed seeing kids having fun, but maybe not so enjoyable for younger couples. The breakfast was nothing special but very convenient."

"Place was clean and we loved being right across from the beach and staircase! As with many rentals, not many dishes or silverware, cookware in general. Host was great to communicate with and we really appreciated the boogie boards and a few other beach equipment available including towels. We also appreciated the blackout curtains! You do need to leave the bedroom doors open to keep airflow in the summer, though, since the ac is in the living room. Wasn’t a problem for us. An fyi to anyone coming soon- the beach has eroded a ton. We have preferred carlsbad beach because it was still in good shape with mild slope, lots of sand, clean, etc., but there is now only about 8’ of sand between the boardwalk and a 6’ sand cliff, and the water comes all the way to the cliff. This made it so we had to travel to a beach since these conditions weren’t safe for our little kids. Huge bummer and sounds like it’s a new problem. We also loved that this is walking distance to Carlsbad village!"
