This holiday house ticks all the boxes for me. It is beautifully located in the slope of a valley. Together with a small dwelling of the owner it is surrounded by a well maintained en very spacious garden. The house itself is very refined renovation of an old barn and has a lot of charm. Besides all this beauty, the site and the house are very well equipped. There are two terraces and a bbq-corner in the garden. At the entrance, you're supposed to store your (walking) shoes, so an extra pair of indoor shoes come in handy. The ground floor is organized around a central and open staircase. The open kitchen has enough working space and overlooks the dining table. The fireplace has comfortable couches and an ottoman. The whole is tastefully furnished. Upstairs, the landing is nicely lit from above. There are two tidy bathrooms. However the design of these seems a bit outdated, everything is well maintained. The sleeping rooms are cosily arranged, but the screens could have been a bit heavier for darkening, in my personal experience. All in all, this really is an outstanding holiday home in the western region of the Ardennes. I'm very happy that I could stay here with seven other friends, we had a wonderful time. I'm very grateful to the owner with whom I had a very good and pleasant contact. I hope we can come here again!

In augustus 2 weken verbleven in dit prachtig gelegen huis. Als je van rust houdt, dan is dit een heerlijke plek. Een hele lieve, gastvrije host. Een heel ruim en compleet huis, welke ook zeer schoon is. Activiteiten en bezienswaardigheden liggen wel op een stukje rijden. Het is een huis met heel veel karakter!!! Aanrader.

We hebben een heel leuke vakantie gehad in het huis Marteaubois nabij Chimay. Alles was perfect zoals beschreven: zeer vriendelijke onthaal, huis tip top in orde en super proper, heel mooie tuin en vooral rust! Het was de eerste keer dat we een huis huurden waar de eigenaar ook op het terrein woont, maar dit is heel goed meegevallen, de tuin en terras bieden voldoende privacy en de eigenares Anne is heel discreet. Het centrum van Chimay met winkels ligt op amper 5 min. rijden per auto. Toeristische informatie en folders liggen klaar ter inzage om uitstappen en wandelingen te plannen. Een echte aanrader.

Fantastische locatie. Heerlijk genoten van de rust en de schitterende zonsondergang elke avond. Mooi huis, goede bedden en alle faciliteiten zijn aanwezig. Omgeving zeer geschikt om te wandelen en van de natuur te genieten. Lac de l'Eau de l'Heurs dichtbij. Voor veel activiteiten moet je wel 30-45 minuten rijden. Echter de kleine kiezelbeekjes waar alleen locals komen zijn er ook in de buurt en zorgden voor middagen vermaak bij onze kinderen.

The house a brilliant home away from home. The owner is very kind, welcoming and helpful. The house is well designed and well equipped. The garden is gorgeous and full of wildlife. One of the best places we ever stayed in. Everything was spotless when we arrived. Comfortable beds, cosy chairs and sofas, a kitchen with everything you could possibly need, always a nice shady spot somewhere in the garden and just far away enough from everything to be able to see lots of stars at night.

Lovely house in truely romantic setting

We stayed with a group of friends in Anne's wonderful house. It is lovely furnished and equipped to the highest standards, really nothing missing. We enjoyed our stay a lot, especially having a drink or two in front of the cosy open fireplace. Highly recommended!
