"Asante Inn is a charming guest house with very helpful staff. The Inn has a beautiful Japanese garden. There is a very peaceful area for sitting dining/drinking tea overlooking the garden. For extra fee the Inn has breakfast and dinner. It also has 2 private onsens the guests can reserve. The bedroom we stayed at was Japanese style, we slept on the floor. "In my limited experience, this is the best hostel I've stayed in. Like what one of the guests said, it has everything that will make any traveler's stay very comfortable. The owner runs the place himself and is very accommodating. "

"We stayed here for two nights in one of the small double pods (up the ladder). It was a bigger space than we expected and quite comfortable. The walls are understandably thin, so be prepared to hear people in the rooms around and below you. There are earplugs provided, which is helpful. The staff were all lovely and we really enjoyed our dinner around the fire! We also walked to a nearby onsen and found the location to be very convenient for exploring Hakone. Would definitely recommend! "

"The friendly staff greeted me at the door, spoke enough english so check-in was easy and quick. They then showed me around and proceeded to assist with carrying luggage up the stairs to my room, above and beyond customer service - as with everywhere in Japan. A nice quiet accommodation with an instant friendly warmth when you walk through the door. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here."

"The stay is value for money. Pros: - good view of the Mt. Fuji in the room - walkable distance to train station - there are restaurants nearby which will open till 10 or 11pm - hostel provides free bread, coffee and fruit - condition of the room is better than expected Cons: - the host/staff was not really hospitable, this didn't mean any impoliteness though - sound insulation is really really bad, please be aware if you are a light sleeper - not enough slippers, need to bring your own one"

"A wonderful hotel and equally a wonderful staff. The location of the hotel is fantastic and is quite close to the famous attractions such as gora park or the Hakone open air museum. I would recommend anyone who is interested in a traditional Japanese house, a fun atmosphere and a nice onsen to consider this place."

"One of the best hostels I've stayed in, it's like a home away from home. Everything is spic and span and guests can make their own food and use the facilities like they would if they were in their own home. They also cook food and provide breakfast if you ask for it. Staying in a pod was a unique experience. The proximity to Oishi park is a huge advantage. This was the first time I stayed in a pod and the experience was surprisingly good and comfortable."

"Highly recommend this hostel for anyone staying around the Fuji area! As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by the friendly staff, who all spoke English. I was shown a tour of the hostel which was helpful and got to choose which bed to stay in (tip - don't sleep next to the dehumidifier, it's got a constant hum, the hostel is not to blame for this!).
