Nice Apartment/Not clean on arrival

The positives- the apartment is in a good location, the building has a pool and gym.The negatives- the apartment was not cleaned before we arrived, there was food caked on the floor like it had not been swept or mopped. There was a condom box and other personal items from the last visitors left in the drawers in the restroom, the shower and tub in both bathrooms were not clean, there were no cleaning items provided we had to ask for them (they did provide them after asking for them) no face towels (provided after asking) empty ice bag left in freezer, trash lodged in the bathroom door, needless to say the cleaning crew did not do their job. They brought the supplies and my husband and I cleaned and sanitized the apartment, so when I checked out I asked the property manager to refund the cleaning fee and they said no, so I contacted VRBO customer service and they took care of accommodating me for my inconvenience. It was still cold and flu season and covid is still an issue so I am very picky about cleanliness. All in all nice apartment just was not clean, hopefully they have learned from this experience.
