  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Misleading but Newer Property that was fine.

We booked this property mostly for the location. The listing states is blocks away from High Street and walking distance to bars and restaurants. However. It’s was almost 2 miles East of High St and a 5 min Uber ride. We booked to visit family and attend an event supposed to be walking distance. We ended up spending over $100 in car services going back and forth multiple times. We were given an address at booking and come to find an email day of check-in with an entirely different address. Communication from the Management Company was nonexistent. I tried to book an extra night and check-in the day before however, they never responded to multiple requests and emails. Other than that the property was clean and decorated nicely. Pictures represent the apartment. The area has some pluses as long as you’re not expecting to be near High Street. Check-in was slightly confusing.

Horrible experience with VRBO Host in Columbus, Ohio

We had booked a property in Columbus in May 2023 for two nights in October near the OSU south campus. We received the appropriate notifications that the reservation was confirmed and our credit card was charged August 2, 2023. As the time to check in became closer, we did not receive any check-in details despite multiple attempts at contacting the host or his associate by phone (2 numbers) and through VRBO. I contacted the main VRBO office the morning of our supposed check-in and they must have contacted the host as we received an email (no phone call) later in the day with some check-in details. This was for a completely different property miles away from the first and on the other side of the river. There was no apology or explanation. This was unacceptable and the host did not return any phone calls or emails or messages about this unacceptable substitution. I recontacted VRBO main and expressed my displeasure with full details (Gabriel was great) and they are taking steps to rectify the matter. We did not stay in any of the properties associated with the host but on the morning of our supposed check-out date received an email scolding us to keep the property clean and to empty the dishwasher. The property was posted for a fair price but as we approached the check-in date there was a notice that there would be an extra charges for cleaning and fees greater than the cost of the daily stay. I have many more disturbing details. Communication with the host was horrible.
