Great cabin

We enjoyed the spacious and clean cabin. The outdoor patio was an added bonus. It was a relaxing place to hang out with the family.

Moms and kids getaway

We had a great time at the rustic retreat. It had plenty of space for all of us to sleep, eat and hang out on the large covered deck. Very close to the river and all things Concan. We’d definitely stay again.

Great for a group of friends!

We had 14 adults and plenty of space. The deck was amazing and we loved spending time outside. Such a great place for a reunion of friends :)

Great Frio River Cabin

The cabin was perfect for our family of eight. The large deck and campfire area were an added bonus. We stayed three nights and had a great time. The Frio was too low to float but we were able to swim and hike at Garner State Park. The hike up Old Baldy was outstanding and the Frio Bat Cave was amazing. I highly recommend the Rustic Retreat.

First time experience

This place was amazing. It was so beautiful inside and outside. Our entire party of 18 had such a great time! Home was very spacious and the river is not too far at all. Everyone we ran into at nearby stores had great hospitality. We are definitely going back next year!

Great Canyon View & Near to Concan

We enjoyed a three night stay. The Frio Fun team was very responsive in terms of clarifying our questions. They manage over 30 homes in the area and know the market well! Enjoyed smores on the outdoor fire pit, star gazing (even saw a Starlink Train!), giant jenga on the porch, foosball matches inside, and delicious food prepared on the grill and spacious kitchen. This is a well built well maintained unit at a competitive price to market!

Stay With Buddies

We had a great trip - the water was low and we were unable to float but so it goes in Texas draughts. The cabin was great for our group of 12, rare that each of us can get a bed. The downside was having to bring our own sheets, towels, etc. Outside of that we had a great time!

Rustic Retreat

This property has a great location. Super close to everything you need on River Rd. It is stocked with the basic necessities. Plenty of space for everyone. Some of the other reviews mentioned the a/c not keeping up. There are notes near each thermostat telling you exactly how low you can go with the temp. I’m 51. 72 is warm for me but the other guests were ok. We were also on the river during hottest parts of the day. It cooled down nicely at night. 😊

This House Is Vacation Rental Goals!

This house is gorgeous! The layout is amazing! It allowed the young adults in our group to socialize without disturbing the older adults! The decor is easily one of the best we have seen and we have stayed in a LOT of vacation rentals! The porch is seriously amazing! We found the location to be perfectly situated for all things we love to do at the Frio. We are Texas Parks annual pass holders so we booked reservations at Garner for each day of our stay! It’s the perfect place to hang in the river! The cons of this home are few but to assist others when booking here they are! We chose to bring our own linens. The listing is not accurate listing twin bunk beds in the rooms. What is actually in the rooms are twin over full beds (which we thought was amazing) but could pose an issue when bringing your own linens! As other reviewers stated the A/C is inadequate in one bedroom upstairs and in one bedroom downstairs. We made a quick trip to Family Dollar and purchased fans to make the rooms slightly more bearable. Another issue we found was there was one garbage bag provided, one roll of paper towels, and one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom for our 6 night stay. The hand soaps were empty and no dish soap was provided. These things aren’t deal breakers but would have been nice to know ahead of time since things are pricey to purchase in Concan. We really enjoyed our stay at this property and would definitely book here again!

Spacious off the River Stay

We had a great time! Although we had to drive to the river, it was a great house that easily slept our entire group! Kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook breakfast and dinner daily! The patio and fire pit were amazing as it cooled off in the evenings.

Weekend getaway with family and friends

My wife and I spent a nice getaway with some family and friends. Went to the music fest, hung out at the house played games, cooked and enjoyed the view from the beautiful porch, and sat around the fire at night. All in all was a nice place to stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at the Rustic Retreat for July 4th and had an overall good experience but definitely some room for improvement. The great: - Easy check-in process: basically just show up and they give you the keys and you can head to your rental -There is plenty of hang-out space for the number of people the rental sleeps, and the kitchen comes with plenty of pots/pans/cooking utensils. There is also a large pantry to store food and keep the counters clear. -The property is fairly private due to the trees along the property line on both sides, and backs up to a hill. The grill is sturdy and the covered patio is an awesome spot to hang out. We didn't use the fire pit because it was really hot out, but was a nice feature. The could-be-better: - The AC does not keep up with the size of the house. In the middle of the day the cabin easily reached 79 - 80 degrees. Additionally one of the upstairs bedrooms never cooled down and folks had difficulty sleeping in there. - Save your money on the linens package: The pillows provided with the are pretty ****** (small, flat) and don't have pillow cases (ew). Additionally, they don't make the beds they just put the folded sheets on them and you have to make it. We had a four day stay and only 1 towel per person, so had to dry off with damp towels after the first day. -We never successfully found the landing for river access, even after talking on the phone with the office. No one in the community knows what it is, and the map provided with the rental is definitely not helpful. Ended up paying $20/day for parking at another spot.

We felt right at home! Convenient location to Garner State Park and all the river Frio activities. Definitely recommend Hippie Chicks for a great burger! Frio Fun made the reservation and check in easy with our crazy travel schedule. Loved it and will definitely be back!
