This beautifully renovated 800 sq. ft. studio suite offers sweeping ocean views, exceptional comfort, and a peaceful setting just 22 steps from your own private patio. The entire suite has been thoroughly renovated from top to bottom, including new drywall, upgraded sound insulation, fresh paint, new appliances, and elegant quartz kitchen countertops. A new custom live-edge kitchen bar table overlooks the ocean, creating the perfect spot for morning coffee or a relaxed evening drink.

With over 100 feet of exclusive oceanfront and a two-level patio extending over the water, you’ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the sea. Listen to gentle waves below, watch seals, otters, herons, and eagles drift through the bay, and—on rare, unforgettable days—spot orcas passing between Maple Bay and Salt Spring Island. Guests often mention how special it feels to wake up to the ocean, unwind on the waterfront patio, and even pick fresh fruit from the trees just outside the suite.

The south-facing suite features a luxurious queen-size sleigh bed with stunning ocean views, making sunrise a daily highlight. This was our second time staying at the Maple Bay Casita and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The host John was super friendly and always available. The place is spotless and has everything that you need. We will definitely be back again!

Perfect chillax

Our 10 day stay at Seaside Casita was truly exceptional. The open concept south facing unit was private, peaceful and offered commanding views of Maple Bay from every vantage point. The two tier private waterfront deck was our daily hangout after exploring the myriad outdoor activities on offer in the Cowichan Valley. Cycling the extensive and well maintained Cowichan Valley Rail trails and swimming in Lake Cowichan and popular Maple Bay beach (a 10-minute walk from the casita!) were the highlights of our stay. John and Patricia are superb hosts providing helpful recommendations and ensuring our stay was 10/10. Seaside Casita is one of those rare locations that unquestionably merits a return trip.

A Beautiful Place

Lovely relaxing stay

We really enjoyed the stay at Maple Bay. The bay and surrounding mountains are beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the water and wildlife over coffee every morning. The hosts were very helpful with local recommendations for hikes, towns to visit, restaurants, and other activities. A peaceful and relaxing escape from the busy outside world! Thanks again!

Wee gem on Maple Bay

We wanted to get out of the snow and see spring on the island and this property didn’t disappoint. For Carole and I this property was ultra relaxing especially the terrace near the water. Will definitely look at staying again.

Perfect location for nature lovers. Directly on the private beach,completely established,perfectly equipped. 2 Kayaks for free,even killer whales passing by. We didn’t want to leave this paradise. Very friendly hosts. We want to come back!!

Oceanfront nest

Great location right on the water! Spent quite a bit of time sitting on the beach enjoying the great ambience, watching the tides go in and out. Kayaked around the bay, went for a quick (cold) swim, and we enjoyed walking over to the Hand of Man museum and then to the pub for dinner. The sitting area chairs inside weren’t as comfy as the bed which was a dream to sink into.

A Lovely Spot

This spacious unit has everything you need. The view is spectacular. It is clean, quiet, and fully equipped. Take note that you really do need a car here unless you plan on just spending your time gazing at the view.

The BEST stay!!

Wow! What a beautiful location. We slept with the windows open listening to the waves in the bay, woke to kayak from our back door, and then spent the day relaxing on the beach. Ate fresh plums and figs from the trees in the yard. Close to everything, but feels so far away. We didn't want to leave and will be back for sure!

A comfortable situation on calm Maple Bay

This was a perfect spot from which to explore more of Vancouver Island than just Victoria. We are glad we found you! We hiked above Maple Bay to great views of the area. We had a beautiful day to walk the wide beach east of Parksville, then the beach walk at Qualicum. The rental was more than adequate for all we needed. The waterfront was calm and very pleasant. We watched animals, birds, boats, and the occasional sea plane. Thanks for making this spot available!

Beautiful seaside oasis!!

This is a little piece of Heaven! I spend most of my time sitting by the sea and taking in the salty air, watching sea lions and even whales swim by. I enjoyed kayaking and an evening at the nearly pub. John is an excellent host, very helpful and responsive! I would definitely return and recommend it whole heartedly! This seaside casita is nestled in a wonderful quiet, friendly neighbourhood and perfect place for some solitude and to rejuvenate.

Spectacular View

We stayed for eight nights and loved the experience. I took a picture early every morning out the large window overlooking Maple Bay. Each day had a different look to it. I spent time gallivanting about with my sister, and my husband spent the majority of his time working at the table facing the bay. He was very productive thanks to the Wi-Fi connection and the quiet and beauty afforded him by the location. We had to traverse the driveway and stairs down to the suite, which was manageable but could be an issue in a few years. At that point, we will change how we pack in order to still be able to stay in this lovely location!

Amazing!

We had to be out of our house for flood restoration, so we were not exactly in a vacation mood. But this place lifted our spirits. A convenient cozy set-up with all the amenities needed--and that's saying something for what turned into a 3 weeks stay! The view is stunning, and sitting by the ocean can calm the most frazzled of nerves. The hosts are incredible--gracious, accommodating, and super friendly. They are there if you need them, but in no way encroach on your personal space or privacy. We highly recommend staying here if you're in the Cowichan Valley area. Thank you, John and Patricia, for making a stressful period of time so much easier.

Seaside Tranquility

My wife and I had a wonderful and relaxing time in the Seaside Casita during a week in September. The studio was well equipped and very comfortable, and the reinvigorating view of Maple Bay was stellar. We enjoyed spending time at the water’s edge, only a dozen or so steps down from the studio. Two sea kayaks were available for our use to explore the coastline around the bay. The location was close to hiking, pubs, wineries, and restaurants. John and Patricia were incredible hosts who were always available to answer any questions, and handled the one unexpected hiccup (a hot water tank replacement) very professionally. We look forward to returning next summer.

Ocean Front Parricide

We were welcomed by the host upon arrival, gave us a tour of the place and he let us know of things to see and do while we were there. During our 6 days there the hosts gave us full privacy but were there if needed. The ocean view and seating area on the ocean edge was breathtaking. I miss it already. What a hidden slice of paradise. If you go, keep a close eye out for the ocean creatures. The seals were very playful and the crabs were fun to watch at high tide. There is really good ocean side restraints close by. One is walking distance, and the other 2 are a few min drive away and the food is really good at all of them. Duncan shopping center is only a 10 to 15 min drive as well. It has everything you need there. The wife and I were blown away every morning we woke up overlooking the ocean and the bed is so comfortable you almost don't want to get out of it. The cabin is well equipped with everything you need besides the food you will want to bring. I can't wait to stay again. Thank you to the hosts John and Patricia. Thanks, Ian and Leanne
