Desert Hot Springs, famously known as the "Spa City," is home to a variety of naturally occurring hot and cold springs that can help melt away stress, improve skin health, and enhance overall wellness. The mineral water in Desert Hot Springs contains both sodium and potassium, essential minerals that play a significant role in fluid balance within the body and are crucial for nerve conduction and muscle contraction. Additionally, silica aids in wound healing, bone building, and supports connective tissues, especially collagen.
At Koi Springs, all water, including that in the pool, spa, and pond, originates from the Mission Springs Desert Hot Springs Aquifer. Located 150 feet below the Koi Springs house, this water is naturally heated by ancient geothermal forces beneath the earth's surface to temperatures as high as 180 degrees. However, as a residential property, we cannot access the hot water aquifer reserved for spas, so the pool and spa water at Koi Springs are heated using solar panels and natural gas heaters, employing a salt chlorinating system for a gentle, healing experience.
For centuries, people have believed that this water has curative powers, and it is completely odorless. Soaking in hot mineral water, a practice known as Balneotherapy, is recognized for providing valuable nutrients that enhance blood circulation, eliminate toxins, stimulate metabolism, balance the body's natural systems, improve pH levels, and relieve pain and stress.
