"It's the worst experience in Japan ever!! There is no staffs or check in reception. We reached there in the evening. It's dark and super cold. As I have never received the door password from this accommodation RAKUTEN STAY VILLA or Expedia, so we felt helpless at outdoor under strong wind. Fortunately there are 3 Japanese youth guests came out and help us to call the CS,finally we got my villa Password. We appreciated their help and stayed with us in the cold weather almost an hour. "We stayed at Tsubaki House en route to Kamikatsu. It was a nice change from hotel rooms. An entire house with nice water view exactly as per the photos. The property is very private and accessed by a narrow road. Staff that handled check in and check out super friendly and proactive. They were very helpful. Take some food for BBQ. There are some places to eat in driving distance. Great place to stay for a family or small group."

"Great house for a larger group. We were pleased with amenities provided. TONS of towels (a luxury in Japan)!
This property owner provided AMAZING instructions (with pictures!) explaining how to get to the home. However, the check-in process was a little challenging if you’re not tech savvy or don’t have the Line app. Please make sure your app is working before you get there.
Super close to the beach and access to the trail leading to Sumoto Castle, a long walk to the conbini or grocery store."

"The absolute best thing about this hotel is that it came with a buffet dinner and breakfast. And they were not run of the mill buffets. So much variety - all kinds of fish (sashimi included) meat, veges and soups and they were mostly all so yummy.
The price was very reasonable too - in fact, it was downright value of money given the superb meals included.
Room was big with a balcony that faced the sunset, lovely. The public bath was delightful too. And free parking!
We really enjoyed our stay, full marks for this hotel, we will surely stay here again if we travel to Shikoku in future. "
"Amazing hotel right at Tokushima station. Just outside the hotel is a major bus terminal with both local and express buses to places such as Kobe and Osaka. A 5 to 10 minute walk west of the hotel takes you to the Tokushima Castle Museum and it’s excellent garden. A 10 minute walk south of the hotel takes you to the Awaodori Kaikan with awaodori shows, and ropeway access to Mt Bizan.
Many shopping and dining options right next to the hotel in the Clement Plaza and also in the surrounding area (including 7/11’s). Although I didn’t try it this trip, the hotel also has a number of dining options itself (they also appear to do banquets for larger groups). Breakfast buffet (which had excellent seating capacity), had a huge selection of food options with attentive staff to ensure tables are cleaned, and food always kept stocked.
Many reception staff speak English and are extremely helpful e.g. offering advice and helping with luggage forwarding.
My room was large, luxurious with mini-fridge, coffee and tea. Wifi was good, and although I didn’t use it my room also had an ethernet cable.
Unrelated to the hotel, please note that as far as I could tell IC cards (such as Suica and Pasmo) cannot be used on Tokushima trains, although many shops and restaurants in Tokushima do accept them.
Service area on the hotel second floor with combination washer/dryers, microwave and vending machine.
Overall a fantastic hotel and I would definitely recommend."
