"This was my second time staying at Protea. It's a very clean and nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet at night for some good rest. The only issue I had was with the breakfast. I told the staff person I would pay at checkout and within five minutes of me getting to my room she's calling me saying the system was down and if she could come and collect the payment at that time. I thought that was in poor taste because I still could've paid at checkout some four hours later. When I asked at the front desk if the systems were back up the person looked at me surprised and said oh yes, and I asked how long were they down, and she said oh just like an hour. I just don't believe that whole story. I think the lady at the breakfast area, wanted to get the payment thinking I would skip out on the bill, even though she asked me if I wanted to pay later. Anyway, I thought the whole thing was in poor taste, including waiting outside my room to make sure the payment went through. Overall it was a good one night stay. "

"The property is conveniently located near the Riverwalk Mall. The service is great, restaurant food was amazing, the drinks at the bar were great. The room was cleaned very well everyday for the week I was there and the staff were friendly. It was definitely good value for my money. "

"The place falls apart the pool is rotting the Aircon TV fridge not working no kettle in room. Bar and dining non existence. Bathroom no plugs in drain. Mosquitoes eat you up as you have to open windows as AC not working! Sorry but what they advertise and what you get differs worlds apart. "
