Wonderful 1 bedroom + sofabed in the heart of the Old Town

West Bow is in the heart of the World Heritage site of the Old Town of Edinburgh. This truly magnificent 2nd floor (no lift) apartment is located on the famous & much photographed West Bow/Victoria Street of Edinburgh.

It is only 150 metres from entrance to Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Royal Mile. The apartment is only a few minutes walk from many other major Edinburgh attractions such as the Royal Scottish Museum and the National Gallery of Scotland. There is also a copious amount of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops in the immediate area. This apartment is furnished and decorated to a very high standard and is an extremely comfortable base for your visit to Edinburgh and Scotland.

LOUNGE/DRAWING ROOM: This is a wonderful large room provides marvellous views of the famous Victoria Terrace which runs above the West Bow & Victoria Street. The room consists of two sofas (one of which converts to a comfortable double bed), A beautiful non functioning Victorian fireplace helps creates a wonderful ambience in the room.
A widescreen tv with is provided for your enjoyment. The room has fully operational working shutters and heavy curtains to aid a good nights sleep if the sofa bed is in use. Guests who have a laptop can also enjoy a free broadband connection either through the supplied cable or by wifi.

BEDROOM: This is a lovely double bedroom with a window also overlooking the Victoria Terrace. A 5ft (1.52 m) wide double bed with two bedside tables, a large built in wardrobe provide ample storage space for your possessions. There is also a wall mounted lcd tv to watch whilst you relax with a morning cup of tea. This room also has fully working shutters and heavy curtains to aid a good nights sleep.

KITCHEN: The kitchen has a large window overlooking Victoria Terrace and the street below. It is equipped with cutlery & crockery for up to four people. It has a glass table with four chairs to enjoy meals at. It is also fully equipped with an oven & hob, microwave and washer for clothes

SHOWER ROOM: A walk in shower is provided, wc and basin.

Additional information:
* Line & towels are provided.
* Street parking is available but is expensive, various longer term parking solutions can be given.
* The airport bus drop off point and main railway station are 10 minutes walk.
* Due to this properties extremely central location some noise pollution is to be expected.

Restrictions:
* No smoking is allowed within the apartment.
* We regret that this 2nd floor flat will be unsuitable for some people with disabilities as there are only stairs.
* No lift is available.
* Strictly no parties - Guests must be quiet between 21:00 and 08:00 to respect neighbouring properties.
*No pets

Access Arrangements

A "meet and greet" service is operated , whereby you will be met at a property at a pre-arranged time to give access. Full instructions of this procedure can be found in the secure guest area after a booking has been completed. It is very important that an approximate arrival time is provided before arrival for this process. Entry is from 14:00 onwards but if nobody has booked to depart on your day of arrival it will probably be very suitable for us to give you entry as early as possible. Departure is by 10am (a guaranteed late departure up to 20:00 can be obtained for 50% of that daily rate. Please contact us if you want to utilise this facility and a price will be calculated).

Please note that arrivals after 19:00 will incur a range of late arrival fee.

**LATE ARRIVAL: fees, 19:00 - 22:30 - 15 pounds, 22:31 - 00:00 - 30 pounds and 00:01 - 02:00 - 50 pounds. The latest access can be given is 02:00, otherwise it is given at 08:00 the next day. ESC accept no liability for any costs involved in alternative accommodation for this 6 hour period.


A deposit of 25% is payable on booking and the outstanding balance of the rental price must be received 2 months prior to your arrival date. For bookings made less than eight weeks before your arrival date the whole rental price falls payable at the time of booking. Please note that a separate 200 pounds refundable key/security deposit must be provided prior to arrival. This is rescinded 5 days after departure.

1x kingsize bed and double sofabed (please advise if required for only two guests)


Getting there

There are three options to get from Edinburgh airport to the city centre, all take approx 30-35 minutes. The main rail station Waverley is approx 500 metres from the apt.

1. Edinburgh trams, approx every 8-10 mins (Sunday 12-15 mins), right outside terminal, the nearest drop off point for the apt is the Princes St stop which is approx 700 metres away. Cost 9.50 pounds for adults and 5.00 pounds for children for a RETURN journey.

2. Airport express bus, every 15 minutes right outside terminal building, drop off point on Waverley Bridge approx 700 metres from the property. Costs 7.50 pounds per person for a RETURN journey.

3. Taxi, many can be found right outside the terminal building and will cost approx 40 pounds for a one way journey. However a taxi will drop you off right outside the property you have booked.

This is a great place to stay! Super close to so many places and acts as a great central hub. It was very clean and a good size for two people. There is a lot of outside noise and the stairwell can be noisey, so keep that in mind. Only negative is the stairwell- some of the lights don't work so navigating at night was a little treacherous. Overall, amazing place to stay!

Great flat in the middle of Old Town

The location is great for seeing all the sites: Castle, Royal Mile, underground tours, whiskey tastings, including day trips out of the city. (The Hadrian's Wall and the Vindolanda Roman fort tour was amazing). 2-1/2 flights up, low water pressure and some rowdy late night street noise were the downsides but we'd book again in an instant.

Great location near Edinburgh Castle!

Nice apartment near all the action. A bit loud at night (especially on the weekend), but we expected that due to its location. Just bring some ear plugs and you should be fine. Locations was perfect to be near so many attractions, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants and cafes. Check in was easy as we were met by a representative who personally showed the apartment and how to use the kitchen equipment and heating. We loved Edinburgh and this was a perfect spot if you want to be in the old town. There’s so much to do and see!
