my two children and i stayed at this cabin for two nights recently. the setting is lovely; there is a stream right below the house that provided my 10 year-old nature girl with much happiness. the house itself was nice, but i agree with other reviewers that it could use some TLC. it is rustic, to be sure.
this is not a good property for more than a couple of people. my 14 year-old son slept on the twin bed, which is down below the loft in the living room area. there isn't privacy in terms of separate rooms. the two bathrooms are a bonus, however. it was chilly in the house, although the heater did work--but it took a while for the house to warm up. this was fine with us, as we prefer cold to hot! the renter did provide linens and towels. the bedding was all great; the towels were older and had some holes in them. the shower was tiny (just a box, really) and the water pressure and temperature were weak. we made do but that was a disappointment, especially because it was chilly at that time of year.
there are other houses around you, but all in all it is pretty quiet, or at least it was when we were there in april. it was a 20 min. ride into santa cruz, and henry powell state park is right in felton center, so that was great.
all in all, it was a nice place to stay. i hope that the owners put some love back into the place to make it more sustainable. at this point, paying over $200 bucks a night to stay there seems a bit steep.
