The owner has provided a very comfortable cottage with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. There is also a small sitting-out area. Not only is Seagulls Rest close to the beach, it’s also just a short walk from the railway station, ideal for those choosing to travel by train.
Filey is a traditional seaside resort, much smaller than its neighbour Scarborough, however it has all the amenities required including a large supermarket, independent shops, bank, post office, bars and cafés. The beach stretches for over four miles, with a large sandy bay, great for the children or that early morning walk with the dog. You can also walk part of the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops to Scarborough. Children can enjoy the rock pools by Filey Brigg, where they can spend many an hour crab fishing and looking for shells.
Filey is close to the resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington and Flamborough Head as well as the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, where you can view the puffins from the viewing platforms along the cliff side.
For those with children, there’s lots to do in the area. Scarborough is home to the Alpamare waterpark with its wave machine and slides, and the Sealife Centre where you can feed the penguins. There’s also a great leisure centre with climbing walls at Bridlington. Flamingoland theme park is a short car drive away and is a fantastic fun park with exhilarating rides and a zoo to keep the children entertained. Seagulls Rest is an ideal cottage from which to base yourself when holidaying in Filey. Beach 400 yards. Pub and restaurant 150 yards.
