Wherever you’re coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you’ve prepared well. We’ve compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Alta escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having an awesome flight experience is to pack in advance. Start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, bring on board items that’ll help while away those hours, like some electronic gadgets or a juicy novel. It’s also smart to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, deodorant and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like a pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight is as simple as your clothing choices. Prepare for changes in temperature by layering up. That way you’ll stay nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like stilettos, flip flops and lace-up boots are best left in your suitcase. Instead, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you later.
- The condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It’s the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression socks can also help.
