Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well prepared. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will get your Carleton escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, pack in your passport, travel documents, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are always good options. If you hope to catch more than just forty winks, a neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you arrive at your destination looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive goods, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your number one priority when deciding what to wear on your flight. Loose clothing is a sensible choice, as are roomy, closed-toe shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
