If you’re poorly prepared, air travel can be overwhelming. But there’s no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these tips and tricks and enjoy a pain-free start to your vacation in Manic-Cinq.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a stress-free experience if you pack the right things. Firstly, you’ll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Next, find room in your bag for your laptop, a charger, any medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, don’t forget to bring your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural-fiber clothing and don’t forget to pack a sweater in case it gets cool in the cabin. Opt for flat, well-fitting shoes as it’s possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long-haul is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to wander around the cabin. Compression socks and tights are another simple way to help reduce this risk.
