"This was our first stay at the Parkman, formerly, the Talley Ho Inn. We have stayed at several places around Townsend, and feel this is the best so far. We had a second floor room with a balcony, and Mountain View to the east, and it was very enjoyable to have morning coffee as the sun rose above the mountain. We went this year to walk a few trails, and were pleased to see the Townsend Trail runs across the front of their property. Our room was spacious and laid out very well. The staff was very easy to work with checking in and out and very cordial and helpful. Our room was well taken care of by the staff. We enjoyed our stay so much, we went ahead and booked next years reservation."

"My husband and I were in Townsend for our grand daughter's wedding. We stayed at Laural Valley Mountain Retreat. We were on the second floor and had a great view. When I booked our room, I had no idea we would be walking up 21 steps to our room. SURPRISE!!!! These are thing you really need to know about when booking. My husband is 78 and I am 76 and have had total knee replacement in both knees. I was also wearing a heart monitor that weekend. Boy did I give it a workout. Two people staying for three nights need more than two wash cloths. The only time we saw anyone there was at breakfast time. The breakfast was always really good and the girl who prepared it was so sweet."

"This property has obviously been refurbished recently! The peaceful nature themed interior decor was beautiful and the wood furniture offered plenty of storage. Thoughtful details like additional shelving in closet area and the Keurig coffee maker were nice. There are plenty of amenities such as multiple pools, a playground, and outdoor movie screen that would be great for entertaining kids. The staff helped us with late check in procedures. When we needed hand soap, the cleaning staff delivered it and also refreshed our room even though we weren’t scheduled for a cleaning that day. The room was meticulously clean and I’m very particular about cleaning. Be aware the bathroom is rather small, but nicely redecorated. The breakfast was continental, but also offered microwave grits and oatmeal, as well as boiled eggs. It met our basic needs, but The Pancake House is just across the street for a more extensive meal. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Cade’s Cove!"

"Beds were in bad shape and squeaked. Not very clean, found a spiderweb and bug by air conditioner. Sliding bathroom door on the inside appeared to have never been cleaned. Weird shower. Stain on carpet. Breakfast was sad. Place was quiet. Staff was great."
