Room was clean but very tired as was the building in general . Breakfast was plenty but cooked breakfast was not fresh as in sausages were hard to cut and bacon crispy and dry . Have stayed there many times in the past, it’s a lovely building in style but unfortunately hasn’t been lovingly cared for by Greene King brewery. Shower was hot and quite powerful but no shower/bath mat available was a case of do I break anything on my body trying to climb out of bath as so slippery

Großes Zimmer mit herausragendem Frühstücksangebot. Neben mediterranem Buffet konnten verschiedene Frühstücksangebote von der Karte bestellt werden. Lediglich die Möbel und Ausstattung und zum Teil in die Jahre gekommen.

Plenty of parking ( large car park round the back). Staff very helpful , bar and bear good, room good size, clean ,but carpet and decoration a little tired. Also fire doors in the corridors slammed. Also fan in bathroom did not work,reported to hotel.

Blackout meant I paid full price to sit in a room in the dark with no facilities. No reduction in price was given after I asked as I felt that I shouldn't have to pay full price to sit in a dark room all night.

Our room was spacious and clean with good facilites including a hairdryer and an iron, however it was dated and and could definitely do with being renovated. The bed was very soft and didnt suit me but that is a question of preference. We had a lovely dinner with friends. We all chise the Sunday roast and it was excellent. The service was a bit hit and miss but overall we enjoyed the meal.Excellent breakfast menu with lots of choices and staff were very welcoming. Lots of free parking which is an added bonus. My biggest gripe was that we arrived with two heavy suitcases and we are both in our sixites and had to lug them up flights of stairs and along corridors as there is no lift. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it wasnt too expensive, it is a lovely old building with lots of character but it definitely needs some tlc.

Very friendly, accommodating staff. More than adequate parking. Room was clean. But generally the state of the decor, furniture and carpets was “tired”. Situated in an ideal spot to explore Ashdown Forest.

A lovely country pub hotel

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, I couldnt fault them. The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren to find the room but still full of charm. Will be back
