The property looked great, we were in the newer annex which is plain outside but the rooms have a Route 66 theme were excellent. The only issue was the TV didn't initially work, we had to call twice for them to come fix it, which was a quick fix. However, at 4AM the TV turned itself on (volume only no screen) and would not turn off. We muted it so we could sleep. In the morning when we wanted to watch the news the volume was still on and when you selected the channel you wanted it played both audios! Needless to say we couldn't catch the news. Additionally, the hotel is close to the railway and a crossing so there were train horns all night long. Also some gearheads were racing up and down Route 66 in front of the hotel till after 11PM so it was a bit hard to sleep.

I enjoyed the decor in my room, 2nd floor, at the annex. Clean and comfortable. Had coffee packets but no tea. I advised the front desk that the area by the stairs needed cleaning, they said they would, they didn't.

One goes to El Rancho to soak up the ambiance of the place where movie stars stayed. It delivers that - the decor of the Old West and lots of photos of stars and movie scenes. Because it’s true to that, rooms are smaller than we’re accustomed to - one can barely turn around in the bathroom- and things like an antiquated elevator (you open gate and door manually) can slow down folks in their 80s and 90s. The shower was great for size and water pressure, but no grab bars. We enjoyed sitting in very comfortable chairs on the second floor mezzanine looking around and down at all the photos and memorabilia. Breakfast was good- spicy green chili on the huevos rancheros, but slow in arriving. This was our most expensive motel, won’t need to go again, but glad we did.

Enjoyed the charm & history, which is the reason I booked this hotel. My only complaint about our room is that the bathroom was too small. You could almost use the sink while using the toilet. The water pressure was weak in the shower. We enjoyed our cocktails and the food was decent. Our waitress could have done better, however.

I picked the amnex bldg not knowing that in April they had already switch to their "summer" cooling which meant there was not heating and only AC for the room so the room was very cold at night. Other than the cold room, it like the decorand restaurant food was good.

We reserved this property because of the 9.2 rating on Expedia. We don’t mind historic properties and enjoyed the memorabilia throughout but the room and especially the bathroom did not live up to the description of “deluxe king”. The bathroom was so small you could sit on the toilet and wash your hands in the sink at the same time. The fan for the air/heat turned on and off every few minutes making sound sleep impossible. Our waitress for dinner was a bright spot but the food was disappointing. I am a very positive person but can’t give this experience an overall thumbs up.

This property was over-hyped in my opinion. Kitschy due to history of former actors that stayed there. Fireplace on 1st level was always full so no place to sit and enjoy. The smoke from the fireplace on the 2nd floor was awful. Room was nothing special, in fact you had to leave the bathroom door open to dry from your shower the space was so small. Restaurant was nothing special. Food was adequate, but staff was short and forgot about us repeatedly, especially at breakfast then next morning as we had the breakfast included in our price of the room. All in all it did not meet my expectations.

Hotel was good! Newly renovated it looked goo, price for the rooms was good. Large TVs , nicely decorated. Only reason 4 not 5 , restaurant food needs to be better. Missing flavor. Mattress needs to be more comfortable. We stayed at the annex and the noise from the streets as expected was noisy. Walls seems to be really thin, like old motel converted into this building. Also no onsite laundry.

We were so excited to book Hotel El Rancho and it absolutely did NOT disappoint. The staff was friendly, the room was super clean and we loved all the nostalgia. The restaurant was even great! We had dinner and breakfast! 10/10 would be thrilled to stay again!
